$2000 extra to spend on cruiser parts

:)

Bookilla, Tiffany is sweeeeet, money well spent. My boss often tells me, typically right as the tool truck pulls up to the shop, "You can never have too many tools". The butcher block(work surface) is a very handy accessory if you aren't going to add a top box right away.

Yeah I like having the top clear for stuff that I am working on. I just picked up a craftsman toll box with roller bearings for all of the tools that are not lucky enough to be in the snap-on. Too many tools.....or maybe not. :hillbilly:

Side cabinets are a nice addition if you need just a little more space; I'm trying to put off buying a top box for a s long as I can, the roll cabs/bottom boxes cost enough as it is.

I just got 5 extras keys for my snap-on from my distributor for free. Ask your driver if he has any extra keys and he might just give you a few (or 5). It normally cost like $10 a key....

Here's my box(work in progress)

I found this at an online police auction. It's not much to look at now, but I plan on getting it sandblasted and totally rehabbing it.

Oh, btw, it was full of proto, craftsman, mac and other brand name tools.

I found something in there that made me think...there was a Landcruiser toolbag ( like the ones that carry the tools to lower the spare)in this toolbox. I'm assuming the guy that lost this box might have had a TLC;hope it wasn't someone on here!

I really liked it. Sadly, I sold it when I moved from the east coast to California. Now I have a much smaller Lista box but will probably buy another roll cab when and if I ever move again.

The variety of the sizes and shapes of drawers make it ideal for organizing tools. I went from chasing stuff around a bunch of different boxes to being able to find it in a second. Also makes it easier to clean up. Having everything lock up with one key is really nice to prevent tools from walking away. When I had a bunch of smaller boxes that would take 5 minutes to lock up, stuff just seemed to get "five fingered", when I got this box with one key locking the box, that stopped happening. It's my dad, brother, friends, neighbors that I was locking out - ironically not strangers who were taking stuff. I also like the way you can set stuff down on top of the box and then find a place for it when you put it away.

I will say that I find my Snap-On tool cart to be even more useful. This brings the tools that you use the most right to the side of what you are working on.

KRSC31PJK, Roll Cart, Locking Drawers, Screwdriver/Prybar Compartments, Electric Orange

I also attached a pic of the Lista. Lista US Official Site - Making Workspace Work

I like tools more than Land Cruisers.

This isn't snap-on, but for $1,500 with some snap-on combo wrenches and a few IR air tools included, it was worth the drive and since it's me bday it became a present that the cruiserfund didn't have to fund :D

I don't get it.

So you guys already have all the tools in the world you'd want that you'd start spending that much $$ on the container to house them? :)

Me, I'd rather have more nice tools and a cheaper box. :D

I understand and respect that, however:

I'd rather have an old FJ40 that I bought for $500 bucks and a bunch of nice tools to put it back together again than an FJ80 and a bunch of store bought mods :D

I also like old stuff that you can fix at home DIY vs trucks with parts that cost more to repair than the total amount invested in my FJ40. I'd have had a few guys tell me that I could buy a nice FJ80 for what my tools cost. Puzzled, I ask, why would I want a nice FJ80?

Junk, nice box. Just as good as Snap-On if you ask me. How many more industrial machines have you bought recently?

I for one feel no need to try to justify anything to you. Sorry, but maybe someone else will. Perhaps they enjoy working with their tools and want to feel good about it, maybe they hit the lottery, maybe they need a larger size that wackybob's doesn't carry etc. If you don't get it, then that's fine, perhaps go run a poll.

Thanks colangut. With the tools, it was too good to pass up. Bought a few more things last year... Powermatic 87 bandsaw, old clausing drill press, old unisaw, put up a gantry crane after almost losing a leg to the bandsaw during unloading it, and a bunch of pallet racking. Going to put the lathe back on ebay though as it just doesn't get much use, takes up too much room, and to be candid, I guess while I fancied myself becoming a machinist, it likely isn't going to happen. I'll replace it with a small bench top for small fittings etc. Simple case of me not correctly prioritizing but then again that's become habit lol.

Either way the box was a bday present which was great because the craftsman combo just didn't have the room I needed - it was too shallow etc.
