Ok, I bought a smooth top kenmore stove from Sears a month or so back... my big question is how in the heck do you clean these tops?

I have the polishing cream they sell with them. I have also tried using a flat razor blade with some water. But it's really hard to get off all the burnt on gunk.

Any ideas?

I used to have one, but did not have much trouble cleaning with regular products. Maybe look at the oven cleaner spray they sell that you don't have to heat.

Oh yeah, quit cooking your food on the cooktop, use a pan;) :flipoff2:

Put a little water on the cold surface. Turn it on until the water gets nice and hot. Wipe it off with a towel.

Or spray some cleaner on there and come back an hour later.

Both worked for me. Good luck.

cool I'll have to try it. Thanks.

Brownbear, here at Casa de Frazer, we use Wieman Stove Top Cleaner.

Works fine, some elbow grease needed and it gets as good as new!

A little Berrymans Chemtool carb dip will get it off, but your wife may not like the smell.

Throw some uncooked rice or noodles on it and cover them with your dish soap soaked wash cloth and start scubbin.
Works great as an abraisive and wont scratch your stove.

Seriously, will this work without damaging the surface? I HATE my smooth top and it stays dirty most of the time. The polish requires too much elbow grease. I live by myself, and kinda like the smell of carb cleaner.

It works on the glass cook tops. The dip type cleaner works, not the cheap spray. Try a small spot and see what happens.
