I have looked and searched but have not found any great descriptions on how to devane the smog pump. If anyone could share with me I would appreciate it. The pulley on mine sheared off the other day and I had to remove it and order one from cruiserparts.net, I am wanting to devane it as the truck had been semi de-smogged prior to me purchasing it. Had I been stronger in the funds department I would have just gone with a specter idler pulley, but oh well. If anyone could shed some light on this I would appreciate it......

Have you taken it apart yet? Pull the bolts on the back and the back piece comes off to open it. That will get you started. I don't know how much pulling the vanes off a your pump will buy you. The bearings could still go out on you. You have any leaks from powering steering pump above it. Sounds like the bolts on the pulley just came loose.

Do not order the spector pulley. You can get one on here from Jim C for 100 instead of the 200 that spector wants. it is better money spent than ordering another one from CP also

Sweet, i'll have to contact JimC. I pulled the old pump apart and I guess the bearing just seized up, it had been squealing but I thought mistakenly that it was just belt squeal. When I pulled the thing apart it looks kind of like a magneto or something on the inside, but there is no place to seperate those "vanes" from the pully shaft, or at least it did not seem that way to me.... I'll take pics and post them tomorrow of what I am talking about.
