I am replacing my smog pump. Didn't pay much attention when I took it out....:frown: . Anyway, the front hole for the pivot bolt is the same size as the bolt...but the back hole is much larger. With the bolt in, the smog pump can kind of move all around. It's almost like the back hole was drilled out or it needs a spacer to snug things up. Am I missing something here? Thanks.

Looks like I found, through searching, one thread on there being a bushing for the back hole. I'm almost positive it wasn't there to begin with. It was an aftermarket smog pump so it had been changed before. Now I just need to locate a bushing...or possibly make one. Anyone have any sitting around???? :D

Were you ever able to find a replacement spacer ? I need one too and hope someone can point me to a viable alternative as it doesn't seem Toyota sells them separately.

It's a spacer that is pressed in from factory. It comes on the bracket, not separately.

Either find a spare bracket with it still in place, or go to the hardware store and make your own.

This is what I found. I think it's what you need. There's some solid cylindrical thing too that fits into it. No idea if it's necessary. Odd thing is I can't see how any of either fit into any of the holes on the pump itself, (whoops! Edited, guess it was on the bracket which I now have an idler pulley hooked to). Been too long since I pulled it to remember.
As well as the spacer in the flange hole on an alt that I'm not using and prob won't use again. No idea if that would work.
Lmk if you need it and I'll send it to you.

Wish I could say its purpose, but it is not used when mounting a smog pump. Did it fall out while doing the removal?
Too long ago for me to remember. It just happened to be in the box w/ it and other stuff. Could be anything but it does fit right inside.

@fjgdk ^^^ that's what I found.

Ok thanks for checking ! I may hold of on getting your old parts first as I may break them the same way I broke my old one !

What I am going to do is get some "spring pins" made of spring steel from Grainger or elsewhere and see if they work. If not I am going to have to revisit the parts you saved. Please save them !
