Just thought I'd put this out there for anyone else looking too. I've been eyeing the smitty winches for a bit, was even thinking of buying a badlands. But saw this deal pop up on summit and couldn't pass on this deal.

Smittybilt Gen2 XRC Winches 97495

$269.99 for it, even with a snatchblock added in, still cheaper then the winch on amazon!

I'll probably a synthetic line down the road, but for now this will work.

I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of my next paycheck that the winch you linked came down a parallel assembly line to the Badlands 9500lb. Not that it matters, Ningbo builds winches for several name brand companies and just changes the aesthetics a little bit. It's still a good deal on an entry level winch. You might look into waterproofing it and changing out the factory grease. There is a thread on here about it.

Think this would fit on an ARB front bumper on an 80?

Sure will... i have the 12k winch in my arb. It has worked flawlessly thus far...

You will need to buy the warn fairlead,
The one that comes with the smittybuilt doesn’t mount properly to the arb...

The arb is designed to use the warn stuff...

...and if you go with the x2o, I cannot comment on the synthetic fairlead fitment...

I have the X20 on one of my trucks. No issues so far. It's been on the truck for about a year now. I haven't used it that much, but, it seems to always work. The wireless is actually a pretty useful function.
The synthetic line isn't great. It's not the worst I have seen, and I will use it until it gives me problems.
Hawse fairlead with that one is standard Warn width, so should fit the ARB.

@stock the XRC 12 looks to be a re-brand of the Badlands 12k for a lot more money. I had a one, it was ok but slow, current winch is much slower. You can actually make the generic fairleads work even with the ARB, I was able to adapt mine.

That xcr12 was overpriced. I think I paid $389 w/ free shipping from 4wheelparts...

I don’t know anything about the badlands or a re-brand...

Agreed overpriced. If you compare a picture of the two side by side you will see what I mean. Ningbo factory in China makes a ton of winches for the 4x4 community and just puts different stickers on them or has some slight cosmetic changes. They are the same winch though on the inside. I think you can still score these at HF for less than $300.

...they do look similar

Placebo affect wearing off...

My winch is name brand...

Hmm, now I'm thinking Warn.

But seriously, the end all be all... shell out for “I know it’ll work”, or wait till it goes on sale for “it works fine now”

Just remember the majority of winch problems revolve around that solenoid pack. The require maintenance just like anything else. People forget about them because of the cover and don't realize that the contacts are getting all mucked up. Inspect and clean on a regular basis and especially before trips and you should be fine with whatever you decide to go with. On that note, I think the M8000 is a reasonably priced winch and a known quantity.
