The other day I wiped those on type material from my butter fly valve , I didn’t remove the unit . Now it cranks more before it starts, could the carbon type material of been sealing the valve ? Opinions would be helpful . It’s a facelift uk model

I have a Cortina MK3 which is the only carbureted vehicle in the fleet. did you let the dirt and grime to fall into the intake? or wipe on to the rag? usually it takes time to relearn so you should be fine. When I clean the throttle body valve, I lift it once and clean before I let go of it. You can also remove th ground cable when doing any work attached to an electrical componenet.
