Ok so I'm going 65 and floor it to pass and the damn thing only drops out of O/D then about 4 seconds later it drops to 2nd. The worst part is the 305's tread suck too much power and just droping out of O/D don't get me moving.
Now if I put it into power mode, the tranny will shift right to 2nd with no hesitation.
I know my dad's 95 a343f will shift right down to 2nd when you floor it, so what's keeping mine from down shifting? I have heard some about the TP sensor/KD cable....but it does down shift out of O/D right away just not down to 2nd like it should when floored.
As far as miles, mine-75k dad's-160k
Also there is no other problems with the tranny at all, shifts smooth, no flaring etc.

I had a very similar symptom sluggish kick down mediocre performance not really holding on to gears up to the red line with full throttle. I had not had the vehicle very long, I asked a few mechanics and all of them said it a big vehicle and that is it you are expecting to much. I investigated my self and both the accelerator cable and the throttle or kick down cable were both badly adjusted. I adjusted both and wow what a difference, the acceleration is very good it will hold on to gears up to the red line on full bore acceleration and generally is so much more responsive. The difference is so great I would have paid money for it. There are threads about this topic and also in the technical page. I think you should consider having a good look at this before spending any money. Good luck and merrry Christmas

Adj both the kick down and the throttle. Bascially tighten up the throttle cable until you remove any slack but prior to the RPM going up. Do this on a warm running motor. On the kick down a little goes a long way. Tighten it up 2nd then go just a little bit, maybe 1/16th" at a time then test drive it then do it again. The larger tires will effect the way the tranny kicks up/down and by tightening the cable you can fool it to some extent.
