My truck slips out of 4wd and It takes some force to get it to stay. Anyone know what the problem is? thanks

You might check the indent springs/ball bearings. The spring on the 4wd selector can loose some of it's strength so if you remove it and stretch it out it my hold in it 4wd.......or adjust the linkage or it maybe time for a rebuild....I did the rebuild when the H55F was put in and still had to stretch the spring a little to make a positive lock in 4wd low.....good luck

Bad motor mounts can cause this issue. I have dealt with it on my 87 fj60.

Stretched the spring, threw in a washer. Took it out on the steepest trails on my land. fixed, no popin out, felt like it used to. 4wd low, pull out the choke, it crawled right up. thanks guys. landcuiser people are the best.

can any one give me an FSM page number and description of where this spring is. I can;t find anything in the FSM and Can't figure out where this spring is on the transfer.

or if you got a picture that would be even better. I've been popping out of 4 for months.
Novice in need of help.

In the FSM, Transfer Case, page 32, section 30. Note there are two of them. Both can be reached with the transfer in the truck. Must remove the skid plate.

Lovetoski, Thanks so much for the page and all. Really appreciate it.

Another quick question:

trimmertrail or anyone who knows:
What size washer should I go buy before I take that bold and spring out.

Thanks
Patrick

Patrick,

Call me and swing by and we can shim out that spring. I did it before I sold my FJ60 and it took care of the problem. Real simple fix. Takes longer to remove the skid plate than to fix the problem.
