i want ot get sliders!!!!

i have a little cracker box welder and have pretty good welding skills.

what would be the best option?
1.weld my own
2. get a shop to fab me some
3. Buy pre-made sliders

If # 1 does any one have some plans or good pointers

if # 2 what should i include in the plans of what i want?

If #3 where is the best place to buy for good quality and affordable price?

1) no, buy mine......just kidding time and mock up will take you the longest.

2) steel will run you anywhere from $75.-$150.
and it could take up to 10 hours to build
3) or i'll make you a set for $400.

Weld your own. .. Check out the pictures on here of different ones and then make exactly want you want.

I want to learn how to weld... Since I don't have a welder or welding skills I would get some pre-made ones. Alot of the premade ones though you have to weld on . I like 2badfjs slider since you can bolt them straight up and always weld them later for added strength. I might go with his when I get ready to buy some. They are sweet..beefy...

if you do it yourself, just make sure you put gussetts on them.

the 60 is a heavy rig!

Here are some pics of the 'beef'.

I think Jim has changes the gusset design a bit since these (the first version) came out. Check with your local fabricator for specifics. And, in case you were wondering, yes- you can jack up the entire vehicle using them.

I've got Jim's sliders on my 60...not only are they stout, and good lookin' but Jim's one heck of a nice guy to work with.

Maybe you should go with experience

Here's a vote for make your own. I cut the rockers out and welded the sliders in. Not perfect but functional... and I can take pride in spending the time and effort to make 'um .

If you want to buy some that you still have to weld up check out Marlin Crawler. I think theres look pretty good. They come in peices and you have to weld them all up the way you want, but they are really cheap.

i make mine from 2x4x3/16 stock
even the outriggers are 2x3 boxed. NOT c channel

IMHO If you plan on doing any rock crawling
use 3/16" or 1/4" wall thickness material.
I cut my rotted rockers out and built some 2"x2" sliders, looks somewhat stock for my truck at least!I bolted it through the frame(3 plates w/four bolts a piece with sleeves each side) and the bolts also tie into a crossmember/skidplate for the tcase.
Handles the weight of my wagon on the rocks.
I built them with my 120v Miller MIG.Proper joint set up with multiple passes worked out well.

By letting Jim puzzle it out all I had to do was mount them.

It's getting too dark to take a picture so I'll try to remember to do that in the morning and post a couple of the left front showing the slider mount and cat.

the only change between a 60 and a 62 is the front left rigger..
