I asked this question in another thread, but putting here too:

I'm looking at white knuckle sliders. They have the option to get them with or without a diamond top plate. What do y'all think, with or without? (you can see the diamond plate options on the left hand side, half way down the page at this link):

If you have small kids get them. If your wife has small feet get them. A foot can easily slide into the gap creating a possible serious injury. Or consider the diamond plate just on the rear portion.

Great points, thanks. I like the look better without the plates, but the practical advantages of having them probably outweigh that.

Plus the plates screw in. You can always take them out when your kids get bigger or if your wifes feet get fat.

Have you thought about expanded metal? Works well at getting mud and snow off your boots too. Kinda half way between nothing and plate.

What I really want are the Slee sliders, but they're out of stock right now and I'm impatient!

Bio off-road step sliders for me. Love them for both being sliders and steps.

I hadn't heard of BIO, they look great. Are they as easy to install as Slee? Any other key points of differentiation, other than the cost savings?

The BIO mount uses U bolts around frame. Not sure about Slee.

I didn't get the Slee version because the top plate bolts on with what I felt to be miniature hardware (10-32 machine screws) therefore more possible areas for rattles and vibrations.

I have the White Knuckle on my 2001. No plates. Love the look and performance. Four kids and one wife. No feet have slipped through.

There are no vibrations or noise from the top plates. We do that to eliminate corrosion that can form where the plate welds on to the tube.

Agreed! No issues with my Slee step sliders. Slee sends a bag full of stainless bolts with nyloc nuts so there's no worries about vibrations.

I got the WKOR ones with only the back section plated. I love these sliders.

I dont have plates on mine and keep non slip tape on them but sometimes wish I had gone with top plates. I was more worried about mud and crap collecting on the bottom and top. Having two kids and watching other little ones get in and out a simple slip would be very bad for a small kid getting out at school with an over loaded book bag...
