Got a good deal on some frame-mounted sliders from a fabricator using 2" DOM. It's cheaper to have them welded to the frame versus bolted. Any good reason to pay more for the bolted versions?

im not a rock crawler or anything but the only reason i think you would ahve to weld on a slider is if you hit the rock at high speeds. haha

i think some heavy duty bolts should do the trick.

it's all personal preferance.
buy if your going to weld them on, weld plates to the tube and then weld the plates to the frame.
you will have more surface area for welding to the frame when you do this.
i would recomend a gusset where the tube and the plate meet, it will keep the tube from wanting to flex at the mounting point and keeps the tube from wanting to seperate from what its welded to.

my stuff is all welded to my rigs cause i don't plan on selling either rig.
i sell a ton of bolt-on sliders cause thats what people want.

bolt-ons can be removed if you ever want to.
plus if you ever need a piece replaced for any reason, you can take them off and send them back and "recycle" the original slider to get it repaired.

hope the helps

post up when your done ;)

That is a good point - removal for damage repair. Will post up. Thanks.

these are'nt jeep frames, so you can almost do whatever to them with no issues.

my bolt on 40's bolt just in front of the front rear spring hanger. the frame is boxed there and the frames are thick.
