I'm thinking about making my own sliders and I'm wondering what wall thickness most or the commercially made ones are? I plan to use 1.5x2.5 or 3", or 2x2" for the main tube and mounts. About the installation, I've heard some people weld them right to the side of the frame, which seems easiest, but kinda odd, I'm use to bolting things to a frame. Do some companies/people bolt them? I'm plenty capable of fabricating, just new to Cruisers...I'm use to 1 ton pickups with big blocks and 44's.

I had a fabricator give me a quote on custom sliders and he said he would weld them. I told him that most vendors sliders are bolt on and he said " they sell them as bolt on so they can ship them to you " which made sense after he said it.

Working at a off road shop, over 95% of people weld them on. With 80s, it is harder because of the exhaust. I did over the frame exhaust and welded them on. It is so much cheaper that way.
