I debated the purchase of Slee's jerry can rack for a long time because I didn't like the design aesthetics. I've been abusing it for a while now and wanted to share my thoughts. Mainly how stout it is. I drive a lot of bad roads with 2 x 20 liters of fuel and 1 x 20 liters of water. I regretted that the "ladder" swing-out didn't come with pre-drilled mounting holes to mount it lower. I bought an extra support leg from Slee and the basket attachment handles the weight well. No wobbles, no rattles, no extra movement. The strap provided with the rack is excellent. The bumper swing-outs still open smoothly and easily despite the extra weight when loaded. The rubberized coating is somewhat fragile though, and over time I expect it to get pretty banged up or scraped off.
I depend on extra fuel/water on the truck since there is no second tank, and use this rack all the time. I was looking for a review or feedback like this when I was searching for a fuel rack - so there it is.

Love the write-up. It occurs to me when I read obscure ones like this that some often-critical (or at least convenient) parts such as these go overlooked on a regular basis.

How do I know this? Because I do it to mine all the time. Use it every trip and I love it. I count on it. (Although mounted just a tad lower than yours above.)

It's an unsung hero on my truck – one of those things no one really notices, but it nevertheless does its job without fail every time it's called upon.

Thanks for posting your thoughts on the Slee shelf.

(All that said, I'll be cutting mine off pretty soon to replace it with a chuck box. No hard feelings, can shelf.)
