hey... so has anyone towed using a slee bumper and the 2 inch reciever mod.? will this bumper tow similarily to a tow hitch?
\

Does anyone have pics of slees bumpers with the stock tow hitch?

4x4 labs and kaymar are the only other bumpers that are rated for towing.. correct?

Not DOT approved but it's definetly solid. I towed with my Slee bumper hitch the day day I bought my cruiser. I put my car on a U-Haul trailer and towed it for about 4 hours home. No problems. Just get a solid drop hitch to correspond with the height of you rig. The weight was prob 4k lbs.+. I think it is rated to 6k lbs. Don't hold me to that though.

I have had no problems towing my M100 with topper, tent and loaded down with stuff. I'm guessing 1200to 1400 lbs of stuff. Rock solid.

Double check on the 4x4 Labs being Dot approved. I know Kaymar is and I tow 4000 lbs regularly and have for several years w/o any issues. With a lift, proper drop hitch is necessary tho.

I have been wondering about this for a while now. I miss having the ability to tow but love the bumper. There is another 80 here in town that has the oem tow receiver with their slee bumper installed. Only thing is he bought the rig like that and not quite sure how the previous owner set it up.

I only had time for a quick look and what i could see is it seems the receiver replaces the shims slee uses to wedge between the frame and bumper where the bolts go. Maybe Christo can shed some light this possibility.

before I answer, which 2" receiver mod are you talking about?

Slees bumper with the 2" recieve sleeve through the face of the bumper. looks like its reinforced back to the frame as well.

i want to know if i can still pull 5000lbs with an aftermarket bumper like slee's.

You can bolt a oe receiver under our bumper. All you need is longer hardware. There are different shim configurations used on various different receivers, so you might need a couple of washers to make up space.

I would have no problem towing a Off road trailer like a AT with the slee hitch but if I was towing something like a large boat or travel trailer I would bolt up an OE one under the frame....you get a nice drop with that as well which would be nice with a 6" lifted rig ;)

4x4 labs bumpers with the receiver looks to be very very beefy up underneath. I wouldn't hesitate in towing with the 4x4 labs that I have seen. It looks stronger than the valley factory hitch I have. fwiw.

The 4x4 Labs bumper is not rated for towing, nor is the Slee. it costs too much money and time for a small business to go through the process.

I tow (at my own risk) with a Slee and a reciever that I built, prior to Chriso offering his version, that transits the bumper face and rear crossmember.
