Yes, there are a few opinions on that, but I think most would agree, whatever the best Land Cruiser might be, it's probably not available in the US market. Good article, I'll post it on our FB page.

hmm, series numbering seems to be off.

70 Series Numbering
70-74: Short-wheelbase, two-door wagon
75: Long-wheelbase, two-door wagon
76: Four-door wagon
78: Troop carrier
79: Pickup

I guess my 75 troopy doesnt count :-)

I thought the same thing, the 45 and 75s were pickups, or bakkie as they say in South Africa.

JP nd JohnVee both had 45lv's, and Greg has an hj75, all closed cab...Jeremy just bought an hj45 pickup...Jason has an fj45 pickup...I can't say I know enough about the #'s either

Best Cruiser.... that's a little subjective. But IMHO and from what i've read in most every magazine article both domestic and foreign 9 times out of 10 the 80 series gets the nod. You would be hard pressed to find a cruiser that championed in stock form the mix of pure off road ability and comfort. Throw in the 97 model that got the 1HD-FTE and you've got all the power and MPG you could want as well.

The only other one that i've seen mentioned are some of the newer coil sprung 70 series... but then again those all ride on 80 series suspension and axles anyway. Lol

If you take looks into effect (which are just subjective to personal taste) you would be hard pressed to argue those points

What about that $800 coffee table book some of y'all ordered, anything in there about nomenclature? @TailsWCU, @CharlestonG8R, @BBQ BOY, @ErikinSC

@beno, can you shed any light on the model numbering system as referenced in the Slee article?
