gonna take the leap and get a Model 1404 Edelbrock 500 CFM 4BBL Carb & Offenhauser Series C 4 BBL Intake manifold and install it to replace my stock carb (pretty worn out & prolly needing rebuild) and the stock intake manifold with the leak... ANY advice will be appreciated since it has been quite a while since i pulled wrenches.

i am looking around for some headers to go with this setup to replace the leaky exhaust manifold and give the cruizer a better chance to breathe - so let me know by emailing me at the linked address in sig line if you have any... the fj60 is 3/86 mfg date w/ 4 on the floor. i know some headers get in the way of the PTO... which at this time i am not using (but may want to). advice also appreciated on opinions on different brands of headers available, cost vs. performance and will they actually stay where bolted?

fellow that has the carb and intake manifold took them off his 2F (fj40) that he converted to fuel injection and is at quite a lot higher elevation than i live (basically sea level)... will probably have to replace the jets... anyone know what size i need to get?

like i said - ANY advice or things to look for or mistakes to avoid will be most appreciated. anticipated problems, benefits, reasons not to do it, etc.? can i use my stock linkage or must i replace that with a cable? can i expect many problems if i don't replace the whole exhaust system with a better breathing one until later? and anyone know of a stainless muffler and pipe system to fit our model?

thanx

The C series is a less than optimal manifold. It'd be the easiest setup to mate a fuel injection kit to though.

The Dual Port is the manifold that's best with a 4 barrel on a 2F.

The way that C series will be set up, you're better off looking for the high-flow factory manifold and having the stock carb desmogged and rebuilt by JimC.

intake

as i remember (and since i am old that may not be well) the stock intake is cast iron... anyone had experience having a good machine / welding shop repair their's? if i gotta replace the intake manifold, exhaust manifold and rebuild the carb, i think i would just as soon put the stock stuff in a box for after i die and my wife sells it to the fourth owner and just bite the bullet & hop it up... after all, it is my 2 bucket seat sports car.

The C series IS the ideal manifold if you want to make top end and midrange power with a 2F that will turn 5 grand and maybe more.

It pulls better than the Dualport from about 3 grand on.

The Dualport is a better manifold for a 2F that does not have boosted compression, a long duration camshaft, balanced bottom end and other mods to keep it happy and potent from 4 grand on up. It makes better low end power than the C series.

I've got a couple dualports on hand and if it sounds like this would be a better manifold foir what you are building, drop me a line and we can talk trade (w/cash to you even).
