Well, made my mind up! I talk'd it up enough to the wifey, and after some research.......WE'RE GOIN' 1 TONS!!!!!!!

Instead of running 35's or so after the SBC/SM420 combo on yota axles and wanting to change it within the year, we're going big!

Got a line on a few 1 ton axle sets, and got a hook up on a Dana 300 t-case for those beautiful front digs!

If anybody else has any smokin' deals or know of any, let me know!:steer::grinpimp:

If youre gonna do that, Spring it over!
Youll gain some width I think with the 1 tons to make op for the COG gain.
I think youll be sorry you didnt. SOA is quite a beautiful thing IMO, and you have actually more stability with 4 on the ground than 3 or in some cases 2 wheels. I hear you on the COG thing, but if youre gonna go with a wider axel, just something to consider.

Cant wait to see the progress on this...seriously!

OH MOST DEFINATELY GOING SOA BRO!! My bud has some waggy springs I can use, and I have a pick between a 60 or a 14 bolt from Fallon Dan. Just need to find the front and the t-case.

I just don't want to do stuff twice. Like I told Carolyne, I want to run 40's or 42's, might as well go big while we are at it. And everybody knows my drivin' style, should be a good show with tons and big meats!

14 bolt , we need somebody to replace Brian. You could always tell which line he took by the metal left on the rocks.

Very true, they are big. 60 HD's are getting hard to come by and pricey at that! I'll end up shaving it to a 13 bolt after everything is in.

Pretty soon it is gonna be like a Jeep, only thing Toyota will be the emblems. Hummm....Jeep springs and a Jeep steering gear, should have started with a Jeep :D

I am just rattlin you cage, in the end its all one ton, motor swaps, custom t-cases.

Yeah, your right about it all being 1 ton after it's finished up. But what if I get a SCOUT Dana 300.....hahaha......

The springs I can get for nothing, but I may end up lookin' for a set of FJ60 springs....it's just what ever comes across the table.

Got the steering box, ran the numbers and it's the HD one!! Evidently they are 2.75 lock to lock. Most of the cruiser guys don't like those because it can make highway lane changes a little FAST AND SKETCHY. They look for the 4+ turn saginaws, but I'm going tons, so it will make it a little less scary on quick turns.

I went by and took a good look at Mike's rig the other day. One day I wanna take a peep at yours. I was behind you a month or so ago, but I was in the :princess:'s Yukon and didn't want to start honkin' and wavin' and have you thinkin' I was a lunatic.....wait, most people already think that anyways!

I might have a drivers drop low pinion 60 for sale. Out of a Dodge 2500, 1994. It's not the king of the HP 60's, but it's an option..

Looking for 60 springs!?
Doesnt Krokar have any?

Maybe so. I know they used some on John's 91. I'm not sure if there are any left out there. I'll give him a buzz here in a bit. I am packing my bags for New Orleans right now and hangin' with the kid.

FAAAAAWWWWWK!Youre gonna be LAUNCHIN that lil heap without abandon.K

YEAH BOY!!! I'm still searching around for a decently priced d60........looks like I am proly gonna have to throw the scratch down and get it over with.

Well, today was fruitful! I am the new owner of a np203 and 205 x-fer case. I have been thinking for a bit about my case options, and I originally wanted to go with a D300. The research has led me to see that in order to make the 300 tough enough for my right foot, it will cost a good amount of money.....inputs/outputs, 4.1 gears etc. Yes the 300 is shorter, but I plan on stretching the wheelbase a good bit, and the new Gen 2 doubler kits are up to 3 inches shorter. And seeing as how I got the 203/205 for a "good deal", I can't justify not using it. Just like Jack keeps stressing with Drippy.....CHEAP!!!! Military pay for now doesn't get me to the Atlas/Stak tax bracket!:grinpimp:

On a related note, I might have a good line on a complete Chevy truck with dana 60's F/R. The fellow said that he would talk to his nephew about it, but he is pretty sure it is "running", but not driveable. He also told me that ole boy is hurting for money and will probably let it go for hardly nothing. If the deal goes good, I am going to take what I need, mainly the front and possibly rear, and possibly the trans, depending on what it is. My buddy just grabbed an old J20 Gladiator truck and wants a SBC for it, so he is wanting the motor. Everyone cross your fingers for me.

I have ranted about this junk enough for now, I tried to post pics earlier, but for some reason my pics keep saying "upload of file failed"????????

I think you are way better off with a 203/205, I have seen too many 300's break.

Also, (not that it matters) but only a handfull of GMC's ever came with a 60 rear, and those were late 60's early 70's era trucks. Later on GMC used some d70's in SRW. Chevy's used a 14bolt almost exclusively. So I would confirm that it is a 60 and not a HD d44 front. The hd 44 from the early trucks had a very large external hub style that at first glance looks like a 60.

Jack

Definately think the 203/205 combo is better. With the gears, inputs, outputs and all with a 300, I could buy an Atlas or a Stak. Sepereated the range box from the 203 after work last night, probably could have got some more done, but Miller Lite got in the way.....

The guy told me that the truck was being built into a crawler and the axles were swapped in. I asked him about it being a 44 and he said he swapped in a 60 and as for the rear, could be a white rabbit chevy or a dodge/ford????? Hopefully this next week I can find out the skinny on it.

OK, just got back from Cali, the Hammers were awsome, had a f'ing blast!

My 40 was used in a movie last week as a prop, my :princess: went to pick it up and on the way home the motor blew, rod punched the pan, nice work honey!! We were putting the SBC in this week anyways, so no big deal.

We got home from SoCal yesterday at 3 PM or so and the motor is almost ready to be pulled. Went ahead and pulled to hardtop and cage out and the hood off to make it easier to work with in the garage. After everything is pulled it is getting a bath underneath and in the engine compartment. If it wasn't dirty before(which it was), after a blown motor, it is very messy.

WIFEY SAID SINCE SHE BLEW IT UP, SHE WANTED TO HELP......BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES!!!:grinpimp::grinpimp:

Do your self a favor and pull the radiator and front apron, it's only takes a few minutes and it makes life so much easier.

Yep, pulled the apron and rad, pulled the motor/trans/xfer case all in 1 piece. Now tomorrow I will get the pressure washer on it and clean her up.

Not bad for a few hours work yesterday and around 4 or 5 today. Thanks to Dan, Mark, and Charlie!!!! Props guys!!!
