No one really loves driving down 20 plus miles of washboard trails, but we do it to get to those great spots. I recently pulled my Horn Button Assy during a trip because the rattling was driving me nuts. In the beginning I thought it was the steering column cover, but it was the Horn Button. Has anyone had luck solving this issue? Any solutions that quieted the Horn Button Assy rattles?

The only other rattle I'm getting is from the Drivers Side Door (LHD) LJ70. I just pulled the panel and I"m gonna tape up the metal rods. Other than that, not really sure what the noise could be originating from. I replaced all the runners 2 years ago. Not sure what else it could be.

If anyone has any recommendations, most appreciated.

Old trucks rattle - but one thing that bugs me is the hollowed out steering wheel that 'rattles' around the internal metal in a specific location.

In general a good use of sound deadening and foam layer on the door panels [inside, obviously] can go a looooong ways towards tightening up the inside sound comfort. If specific things are still moving around, it's easier to identify and fix/tighten/etc. It's been the first thing i've done on a 60, 100 and the other 100 with great results. The 'thud' on door close is suppper satisfying.

My chopped rear doors lack a top latch and they rustle and squeak.
Hate it.

Yes my doors rattle also, going to try to tackle that this weekend - also some noise coming from where the top meet the body

Any favorites on the sound deadening? I've read through so many difference posts on here about it that I am lost. I want to do this to my truck as well, but dont want to use one of the roofing types so I have to deal with the fumes after.

Re-centered & re-taped the “Interior Lock Rod”, hopefully that solves the driver’s side door rattle. Window Track Run rubber was still all in place. Removed and Replaced Interior Felt as the fastener was lose closest to door lock. Otherwise, radio volume will significantly increase @GTSSportCoupe. Also added washers and non-Toyota screws to the door handle. I purchased new OE Toyota screws, but they didn’t want to grab all that well. Door panel is sinched up a bit tighter now.

That door handle rod in the door is suppose to have a piece of foam around it from the factory. I just had both of my doors open for a Cosmoline treatment and they both had foam around both handle "rods".

Basically you're buying butyl rubber with a nice coating on one side and a logo. I've tried a few different ones and ... they're all the same! I have learned the butyl is best teamed with a foam backing for more insulating properties, both sound and heat/cold.

Kilmat is what I used for butyl and Noico for the insulating later on top. Links below.

I have the roof flashing in place.
No adverse smells but I guess there could be invisible toxins I don't know about.

You’ll find different items have different resonant frequencies so some items will rattle at different RPM, especially at cold start. I’ll press on the gas a little at idle and that can stop something from rattling

As @loeky stated, I have found kilmat to be the best bang for your buck 80 mil. I went with luxury liner pro over it on the floor and it works the best, but you pay for it. I’ve also used something similar to that foam and was also happy with it.

By far the best trick for solving all squeaks and rattles in my 73 is to take the top off, and let the wind drown it all out.
