Hello!
While I wait to get my cylinder head back from the machine shop, I'm making a list and executing the myriad small projects that have been on the back burner in favor of larger, more critical ones.
The sliding side windows in my Fivres FRP top are rattling a bit because the felt (felt?) that lined the track has rotted away and washed out of the drains along the track in chunks. Unsurprisingly, I don't see a replacement part. I do want to continue to be able to open the rear windows so gluing them shut with a bead of something isn't my preferred route. Is there anything out there I can slide in between the glass and the now-exposed aluminum track that will refresh this zone?

Related – I've developed a somewhat irrational fear of the clip that keeps the window shut breaking since it's now 30 year old plastic. Is there a replacement for that for when one of my kids inevitability slams the window shut and breaks one of those suckers off?

Thanks!

Hello,

The manual refers to that part as "center weatherstrip." This applies to OEM windows.

It might be possible to use an OEM center weatherstrip in the Fivres window. Perhaps it i necessary to trim it a little.

Regarding the clip, it is possible that it is a generic part. An OEM clip may have a different hole pattern, different size, or both.

Thanks Juan.

Factory frp top window tracks are rubber without felt or flocking. There is a vertical bar that has some brush-like stuff on it to limit how far the glass can slide and maybe to brush it clean.
Maybe you can find a substitute by looking for a generic RV weatherstrip with the right profile.

I'm fairly certain the Fivres top has flocked/felt in the upper and lower tracks and a rubber wiper-type gasket in the vertical divider. I'm looking for a solve for the lower track the glass rides in. RV weatherstripping is a great idea, thanks @jblueridge

I was led to RV stuff while looking for sub for the NLA loop or strip that goes between FRP and window frame.

I think something in this world will work. Just need to take measurements.

Good resource.
Thanks!
