I hope I am not repeating any questions here -- I used the search function and did not find any similarly worded threads about cup holders.

I actually really like the size and functionality of the cup holders in my 2022 GX. However, I do find that these spring loaded arms in the cup holders are extremely noisy. They hold my water bottles and coffee thermoses well, but the noise is driving me nuts. Any advice or known fixes for this noise issue? Or do I just have to replace the whole darn thing?

I'm guessing you're referring to the rattling of your beverages in the cup holder?
Try something like this:
Amazon product ASIN B09SWBGMSJCut out some pads the size of the spring loaded "wings". That should help silence the rattling.
If necessary, you can even cut out some rounds for the bottom of the cup holders or line the entire cup holders with silicone.

OR... you can cover your beverage containers with the silicone material, but I don't think it'll be the best use of it.

BTY, what does your yellow "WDYD" mean? There's only three of you with it and I can't find out what it refers to.

Not quite. I added a video for clarification.

Sound on!

I think there are a handful of smaller vendors that do some cupholder inserts to help with this (BlueDog Design works comes to mine). This also drives me nuts because the sound of the cupholder's spring arm smacking into a metal water bottle is 1) loud af and 2) super unnerving when you're offroading and you have to determine if it was your cupholder or something expensive underneath.

I have a 2022 and notice the same "problem" with the springs in my cup holders. The reason this is a "problem" is because it is the only squeak or noise that I hear in my GX. The damn think is like being in a bank vault. Whisper quite in stock form, you notice the noise from the cup holder when it is engaging a beverage. One could consider themselves fortunate that this is the only noise the permeates the silence when driving the GX, and turn the music louder!

Don't get me wrong, I am glad that THIS is my main complaint. Please don't mistake my seeking of a solution as ungratefulness.

However, my morning commute involves a tall coffee thermos rattling around in that noisy little bugger. Just trying to make my pre-coffee morning life a little more quiet

No problem at all! ;)

Rattles in vehicles drive me nuts. My wife's 2018 Macan GTS makes more noise with the package tray at the rear hatch. My LX570s had rattles with the second row seats. Zero noise from this GX (besides cup holder when beveraging). Honestly, this is something that I marvel at every time I drive my 2022 GX460.

If your cups fit, these might be a good option since you might be able to remove those noisy arms. I know a few people here have been using them.

Yeah, I have seen those as well. Honestly, I don’t really like the look. The spring arms I currently have do a decent job, they are just noisy.

If I can’t find a solution, I may give the Crafted By Matt solution a try.

I have a slightly different problem - my cupholders are fine but the sliding cover over the USB ports in front of the shifter rattles if it's locked in the full open position. Not sure how to fix that either.

I will look into that or maybe some graphite. Don’t love the oily residue of WD-40.
Had this problem, have solution.

The squeak isn't from the hinge, it's from the sides of the plastic fingers (the part that Im holds your drink) rubbing against the hole that they pass through in the cup holder.

I removed the cup holder, then from the back I used milcomm TW-25 to lubricate the sides of the fingers and the squeak went away. This was after Lexus replaced the cup holder under warranty for the same issue. You don't need to use a fancy lube like tw-25, but you want something that DOES NOT smell in the cab. Krytox or an all purpose white lithium grease should work well too.

You don't need a ton.... just wipe it on, cycle the joint, then wipe the excess off.

I use clear silicone lubricant in a spray can for things I do not want to be oily. It drys nicely and can be used to clean the plastic there, too. Something like this is good for darn near all kinds of latches, keyholes and plastic bits. Permatex 80070 16 Oz Silicone Spray Lubricant Clear | eBay

Mine don't make any noise except for a loud clack when I pull the bottle/cup out of the holder.

Will be watching for what you find - I have a 22GX with the same noisy issue.

That would drive me nuts. Mine do not do that.

I ripped apart my dashboard to track down a creak beneath my glove box. Coming from near the lower air bag. No luck on my end. Good luck!
