Hey guys I’m in the market for a LX570
I know the market is high now but my current car is giving problems and I need to get a car ASAP for the family.

i found a 2014 with 95k miles for $39k
Car seems good all over but I’m not sure about the undercarriage can anyone give me they opinion if it’s ok or too rusted.

It doesn't look too rusty to me. Looks to be surface rust but would be worried there may be some rust hidden in the body or under some of the skid plates or in the frame that I am not seeing. If bought, definitely clean the underside well and apply a rust preventative treatment like fluidfilm regularly to help keep it form getting worse.

I'd make the decision on things other than that rust. Its treatable and not a dealbreaker. You don't indicate where you live, but get it coated in Fluid Film or your favorite preventative right after you buy it.

Car is in Philadelphia I’m from New York.
you think the car will hold its value around 39k after the market stabilizes?

This. Rust is a non issue. Regular oil changes? wear and tear on interior parts? Accidents?

I have no idea! Vehicles normally have a large negative return on investment in terms of money. The ROI of an LC or LX is in the fun, experience, joy, safety, and satisfaction. Get it and don't worry about it holding monetary value, IMHO.

I live in the south and always try to avoid cars north of Tennessee if possible. I would say that for the area it's in, that's not a lot of rust relative to what I have seen on other vehicles. But it's slightly more than I typically see on a southern car with similar age and miles. As others have pointed out, it appears to be primarily surface rust, which even the southern vehicles get a little of, and would be treatable. As for the unseen rust, that would be tough to say, but I'm sure it has some.

As for the valuation, that would be anyone's guess. We are living on the precipice of early stagflation, so until interest rates stabilize, it's just a free money bonanza for spenders that will continue to get worse. One reason this platform holds it's value so well is the fact they are quite rare relative to other vehicles, and in the end, what would you replace it with if you sold it? There isn't much out there that fits the bill in so many areas like a 200 Series. Anything new that is similar is $90K+ and I see Honda CRV's selling for $40K now in places. If you plan to keep it 7+ years, I'd much rather be paying on a Land Cruiser/LX570 than I would a Honda CRV. YMMV though....

That's more of a slight patina than rot. Normal for the east coast. I bet the tow area is starting to flake and the transmission bash guard is on it's way. As stated above just start treating it every year with fluid film or woolwax. Every season. It will last long time. This is not just for a LC. Any vehicle in the rust belt should have the underbody treated every year even brand new if you expect it to last. If your leasing who cares?

Vehicles are not an investment. They are a money pit. But strange things happened this year. Covid related issues drove up all used car prices across the board. Toyota officially announced no more LC200 in the USA. So that is really helping drive up prices in the aftermarket. The same thing happened with the FJ's when they stopped offering them. It's the perfect storm. So if you are a buying a used LC 200 today you are buying at the top.

I paid 22k for a 2009LC with 149K on the odometer 3 years ago. Blue book tells me it's now worth 26-29K. I've had 2 private offers between 50-55K. If I sold it at that price I would make money. But if I had to buy a LC now and build it out back to what I have now the profit line blurs. I might stand to put 5k in my pocket but I have to rebuild, which takes time, it completely defeats the purpose why I have this thing.
