Should I pull the trigger and move up to 35s?

I know this question has been kicked down road here, so please keep the whining to a minimum :D. I bought my 295/65/18 ProComps (33x11.5) before Breck last year and love them. I am now kicking around moving up a size to 305/70/18s (34.8x12) - same tire ProComp MT2 Xtremes. I have a 2.5" OME lift with ARB bumpers front and rear, still running factory UCAs. I am pretty sure I could make the move up with little to no modifications (maybe spacers and a KDSS relo). I have been able to follow all you guys running 35s with zero issue ;) .. My question is, should I pull the trigger? Pros - uptick in ground clearance and probably cooler look. Cons - even more parking garage pain and rubbage. Thoughts? :beer:
 
My question would be are there “real” off-road benefits (on a 200 Series) going from 33s to 35s?
 
there are more drawbacks to 35s than listed....I longed to join the 35 club and love the look of my truck with them, but they do drag down the performance of the truck. Braking and acceleration were hit like a turtle in peanut butter. Granted I also switched to 20" wheels that were 10bls heavier than the rock warriors I was running.
now with Tundra brakes in incoming re-gear.....it may bump up the fun factor. just know that if you go big there will be more projects in your future!

I also have tundra front suspension, so I didn't have to deal with the KDSS rub headaches.
 
instead of 35s, get upper control arms and spacers. bump that lift up to 3". you've already got all the armor.
 
No regrets going 35’s. Even before the regear. Cosmetically Its proportional to the truck. When you do have time to hit a trail and you air down your diff is still higher than an aired down anything sub 35”. Taking time to tinker around on your LC and dial It in is part of the ownership Enjoyment. Its all relative. If you do it and find out its not for you then you have a fresh set for your 40
 
There's some great choices between 33s and 35s. Namely 34's. Seems to be a great aggressive fitment without getting into the deeper issues of running 35s. 285/70r18 or 305/65/18 to name a couple.

Keeping the 35s for the 40 is a good idea in concept. I don't know if I can sell it internally due to the fact that I am running 15" wheels. I will propose this and see where it goes .. :meh:
 
Having a 100 on 35's(285/75R18) and a spare set of 275/70R18 on steelies afforded me the luxury of trying both. I can vouch that without a regear, 35's are a real kick in the dick for the 200. The 8-speed is all over the place and acceleration and mpg's go into the toilet. The 33.8" 285/70R18 really is a tolerable compromise. My truck is my DD, but will also see easily 100+ days on beaches and fire roads fishing and hunting so the extra inch just wasn't worth it. Sorry for the garage pic...

as most noted 35's while great for trails and looking perfect do require a lot of extra aspects and $....... gears are a must if you have hills and they do require a pretty spot on offset and willingness to grind/ cut fender liners etc..... and while your doing gears you mights as well do ARBs, and then you should..... and then....

a 35x11.5x will minize some of the cutting and need for spacers etc perhaps. I ran 305's on 18's and they actually were larger in the Cooper's than my 35 x 12.5's...
