Man, get a southern car. One from NY equals salt and traffic. Hard miles. Look for one on CarMax and get it shipped from the south. Sorry. But I look for years for each of our LXs and all of the ones north of DC were beat.

Getting a southern car would be the logical thing to do. My Honda Accord is originally from North Carolina and when I bought it I could not believe how well preserved the under carriage was. It would be nice to get an unmolested one from somewhere south of DC. Well, the quest continues.

For future reference, the number of previous owners reported by Carfax and Autocheck is often wrong. It usually errs on the high side, too. Owner moves to a new state, has it retitled and it shows up as a new owner. In addition, accidents are reported when there wasnt one (rock hits a windshield, cracks it, owner gets new windshield from insurance, noted as "Accident Reported: Front Impact") and not reported when there was one. Clerical, human errors are made when writing down mileage on a title and it shows up as Not Actual Mileage on the report and sometimes the title itself. But, unfortunately, in this day and age, its almost the first thing you should do when looking at buying any particular vehicle, especially if its not local. You can't escape the fact that the statements on the report affect its current value and future resale value.

Yes, CarFax is not "all that". I was looking at the CarFax report on the LX I went on to buy, and said the head gaskets had been replaced. Really?!? So I called the dealership to ask what was up with that? Turns out they replaced the valve cover gaskets. Alrighty then...
