Have you ran a CarFax on the truck?

Yes I did. It was not very helpful. It had no data after the first owner traded it in and went wholesale auction. The seller was the second owner.

Montana,

Hey! you're gonna have change that name :D
I'm going to replace the 80 - it's a little too rough around the edges for clients. There's nothing wrong with it, just need something more "presentable" and less "rig-like" not that there's anything wron with that :D
Thought I saw you near the civic center on Center st. heading to Spring St. intersection last week?

Very good chance it was me, I was running all over the place last week running errands with the :princess:  . I actually havent seen any other black 80's in the area either.

Let me know if I can be of any help with the 80 or your new 100. I'll keep my eyes out for any 100s in the area for sale. Stopped through the Toyota Dealer out by the mall, they had newer 100s in the mid 30k's.

Yeah, the name is a little confusing isnt it :D

Check out Traderonline and get comparible prices... something doesn't sound right about the condition for a 50k mile cruiser IMHO. Why would a dealer wholesale a 00 with low miles??? From you description I would guess its been wrecked and rebuilt. Look at the timelines of the carfax. they usually indicate if something is wrong. Like someone said, TX is a great place to fly down to and drive back from.

To the point of records or price, please remember that the people on this board have an entirely different perception of cruisers than most. It is very easy to get into a mind set after joining this board that everyone else should have just as much knowledge, foresight and mechanical proactivity as the forum members.
Very good points!

This goes along with the "One Owner" thing for me. I have never cared how many people owned it, infact I would argue that having multiple owners a vehicle would receive BETTER care than a vehicle with one owner. One owner means if that one person didn't care about it, then nothing ever got done on it. If you have 3-4 owners, there is a higher probability that one of them would have done some maint on it.

I never useto keep records about changing oil. Didn't care. I always changed it every few months, or I'd remember what mileage it was last, and it alwyas got fully synthetic oil or some other good oil, but never had any records to prove that so that would not matter one bit to me. I'm sure the oil wasn't changed every 2500 miles, but who cares, you could easily run 7500 miles on oil in that engine and I'm sure more without alot of actual wear. None of those things would matter much to me.

The loose door handle, the worn driver's seat, those would matter to me alot more than maint isues.

Good luck...

There is a '99 with 64k miles, rear locker, black exterior, tan interior, with a black grille guard at the Pavilion Lincoln Mercury Dealer in Austin, TX. It is listed for $26,400 on AutoTrader.com. Pavilion had it listed in the newspaper for $21,200 on Sunday. Use 78701 as the zip on AutoTrader to see pics. I don't know how to post links. Pavillion's number is 1-866-231-3333. I might be able to swing by and check it out for you later this week.

Thanks for the suggestion but Black.......Argh, I love black but too hard to keep up with ESPECIALLY in a truck that will make some trips into the brush on occassion. I'm trying to find River Rock or Thundercloud ideally. Black and white are out of consideration however. There's a 99 LX 470 in Plano with 71K for $21. Anyone near Plano? Speaking of colors, there's a pristine 99 near me with 42K miles for $26 but it is that pinky bronze color with gold package. I've gone to look at it twice but can't get past that color.

As far as checking out used 100's, how heavy is that belly pan below the engine? is it a 2-person job to remove/ put back? My Audi S4 had a plastic belly pan that was a pain to get back on because of its size and it would flex when you tried to put it back in place.

They are not that heavy. The front one is metal, with the cover hole for the oil filter. The rear one is plastic, kind of flimsy. It does flex some. Mine cracked and I had to repair with jb weld. At least I know it has been removed many times for service.

Sent you a pm, btw, with a carfax request.
