I love the LX/200 more than anything, but simply can't afford it.

I'm looking at a decent (well-maintained) LX470 with 120k miles on it for $14,500.

When I test drove it it didn't blow my hair back, but I just need to make a wise decision.

Do y'all like the GX470?

No, everyone here hates their GX...we just care for them and build them to throw our money out the window. /sarcasm

If you like the LX, you should wait and get what you want. No reason to settle for something you might regret purchasing later on.

GXs are great...if it's what you want. They have their quirks and eccentricities like every other vehicle. Spend some time around a few on test drives to try and get a feel for it. If you just aren't loving it...wait for your LX.

What year was the LX470?

I agree with Nomz that you need to get what you really want. I wanted a 2004 100, but couldn’t find one at a good price and low miles.

Gx470 fit the bill and my needs. There’s a thread around here somewhere that talks about what we hate and love about the gx470. That might give you some insight as to what we miss and what we like.

There isn't really one LX in particular that I was talking about. I was speaking from a broad observation.

I think a GX would fit the bill and my needs for sure, I think I was just hoping to get into a later series 100 or an early 200.

But comparing the mileage, etc., the GX just seems like a better, wiser decision for me right now.

I also had originally planned to get another 100 series but couldn't find a decently low mileage one. So when the right GX came along I snagged it. I think it depends on what you want to do with it. Personally I love the GX and I had a 100 years ago. The GX is better on trails due to the width. Also WAY more parts availability due to sharing a lot with the FJ and 4runner. Only downs to me is not getting the big old 9" rear axle in the 100. No split rear tailgate. Axle can be upgraded. But nothing you can do about the tailgate.

I’m truly enjoying the gx470, but Hera that thread I was mentioning....

If you want a 200, go drive a GX460. 2010-2012 look like and feel like mini 200s.

GX is great! i have to believe that prices will start to rise on them... people are starting to realize what they are.

BUT i have to agree with some of the other members... if a 200 is what you reallllllllly want, pay a little more $$$ and get that. no regerts!

The problem is that I can't afford a 200 lol.

I didn’t want to pay a high price for a rig I was going to abuse. All the dents, scratches, pin stripes, and fading paint don’t bother me!

ha yah! right there with you... i was considering 100/200's but they were hard to find, and more expensive. so yah, just like you basically, but i wasn't dead set on a LC. i figured, go with a GX and maybe use the $$$ savings for upgrades or deferred maintenance, and that's basically what's happened.

i was also considering a v8 4runner, and actually really like the size of the 120 series... especially with the v8 grunt. good luck with your search! this forum, plus GXOR over on facebook are great resources.

in retrospect, i would have held out a little to find a GX with non-nav...

The problem is that I can't afford a 200 lol.
