So @Mcladin asked the questions below and I figured I'd start a new thread so we can keep the Roll Call thread clean.

Let's use this thread to share locations and contact information for workshops and parts suppliers in the UAE. Would love for the Saudi guys to do the same.

Have you done the work to you truck or did you have a shop do it ?

I'm doing what I can in my driveway... fixing up shorts in the electrical, cleaning, replacing small trim pieces, etc. I'm hunting parts on my own as well. I have a shop that services my 80 and my Corolla here in Abu Dhabi and they do a good job. The guy who runs the place has his own collector's car, so he gets how important it is. He's going to let me use the shop on Friday's (when it's closed) to do my own work as well, using his tools.

Shop is called Diamond Bright Car Care, +971 2 550 9249, dbcarcare1@gmail.com

Are there a lot of 40 series running around your neck of the woods ?

Here in Abu Dhabi I'll see one or two 40's a year... and a few more 45 pickups. Up in the Northern Emirates there are 45 pickups everywhere. Out on the farms and on the fishing coasts they swarm all over the place.

Do you guys find parts at the junk yards ? And if yes does that include complete trucks to part out ?

I've managed to find parts up in Al Dhaid at a junk yard and a salvage shop. I found the following items:
- Complete power steering from an FJ45 pickup
- Steering column from an FJ45 pickup (so I could put the shorter shaft in my 40 with the PS)
- Replacement windshield (my current windshield isn't OEM)
- FJ60 hubs and knuckles for a disc brake conversion

Junk Yard is Al Shabani Used Parts, +971 50 729 8153 (ask for Jassim)

Are there any specialized worships out in AD that know what their doing to the 40 series ?

Thanks

No, not in AD. In the Northern Emirates there are some specialty shops. I only know of them through word of mouth... no firsthand experience.

A great parts source here in the UAE is in Al Dhaid:

Al Aswar, Al Dhaid, Sharjah contact details are :
Cell : +971-50-6284110
Tel : +971-6-8823967
Cell : +971-55-3696600
e-mail : aswaraut@gmail.com

I typically email them my part numbers in the morning and then give them a phone call before noon to remind them. All the parts they have are usually available the next day.

Also, here in Abu Dhabi I've been able to order some parts from the dealership for my 80 and 40 that are not in stock with Aswar and the other suppliers. Al Futtaim gives me about a 20-30% discount off their list price because I order direct from the parts department.

thanks for that info and sorry for hijacking your other thread :D just get excited when chatting with other cruisers and specially ones in the region coz we all suffer the same fate. Lack of specialised experts that have the understanding that some Mudders have spent their lives gaining in the states.

i guess we are blessed then. In saudi there are parts everywhere. But to be honest they are starting to dwindle in the junk yards. the dealer or sub dealers tends to have most mechanical parts in stock, so thats a life saver for the things that need to be new.

There is a specialised shop in Qassim KSA that is turning out some mint examples and i have taken an appointment with them, but they dont do mechanical work , only body, frame, Soft top and seat covers and all zincd bolts and nuts. i have some pictures on my phone ill upload later. So my appointment is in november :bang: 10 months from the time i called him but thats cool coz i want to send them a 43 which i still have not found. they also dont take on rust buckets. I have to send him pictures of the car before he agrees to move forward.

I tend to do most of the modification work myself but all mechanical or major mechanical stuff we take to one of two workshops in Jeddah. one for light work and the other for heavy and complicated stuff.

I have started a 2f rebuild which im doing for the fun of it and learning and hopefully if it turns out fine will install it.

yah i get a 35% discount from the dealer. its not because of my dark sexy eyes its because we are using my families account number :) which is a construction company and they seem to be a good customer.

For spare parts I use Majelan (http://www.majelanuae.com/), Gave AlHammadi the axe as their customer service is beyond crap. Past 100k I've been doing all the services myself, but anything I can't handle I won't hesitate to go back to AlFuttaim I've had great experience with the service centre in Sharjah.

Thanks for this info guys. I am in need of a new steering wheel and shift knob. Both are leather/wood and worn away. I'll give these guys above a call but any other ideas?

If you want it cheap you can look around scrap yards and maybe find something in decent condition or call up the parts stores.

Also go to www.toyodiy.com and enter your vin # and you should find all the part numbers you need

I would also be careful there are a lot of fake parts floating around well at least here in saudi. Was told that they even come in original packaging. So be sure guys that if the price is very cheap it probably means it's a knock off. If you want to buy new parts and the dealer has them get it from them. Will save you money in the long term.

Actually i just remembered you can check out challenger in sharjah they should have used in good condition parts 06-5330260, they have fakes as well so be specific. I picked up colored door handles from them to replace the chrome ones and got a headlight once for a friend

If you all need anything that you can't find in your local market post it here and we will try to help you find it from our local suppliers with no additional cost : ) Just the shipping cost if any applies.

There is a parts distributor in UAE called TASRA. Branches in Dubai and Sharjah....not sure about AD. I use SZR branch just round corner from Mitsibushi Showroom. I got new Mopar rotors at almost half the cost that dealer wanted for my DD....
GC SRT8.....hope that doesnt get me kicked off the forum:hillbilly:
Tel no: 043285074

For Resto work in Dubai it may be worth paying a visit to Sara Auto Care ( behind Times Square). I can't give a full testimony but when I checked out their workshop it looked like they were doing some good work. They had a variety of old and new motors they were working on. Seemingly the owner has a large collection of classics and garage grew from maintaining his fleet. I'm planning to put the DD in for detailing to get a feel for their work.

Ian, thanks for posting this up. It is much closer to me and I will give Tasra a call!

Sara Auto Care used to be really good at detailing and I've seen the workshop and cars. Glen was the manager, and now left , and from what I hear, has gone down hill ever since. I didn't have the best experience when I did mine, but it was 2 years ago and things may have changed.

In all honesty I don't know of many good detailer without spending quite alot.

I'm still neck deep in the restoration, but if you want quality I would definitely suggest performance garage Dxb. You can find them on Instagram, and despite not being a LC garage they are hardworking with so far touch wood great work. I've seen some of the completed projects come out of their workshop and they are top notch.
