You're wife must not be to happy that you've got a wench?

A very prestigious wealthy man and his wife were having dinner at a very fine restaurant.
An absolutely stunning young woman comes over to their table and gives the husband a big open mouthed kiss, then says she will she him later.

The wife glares at her husband and demands "Who was that?"
"Oh" replies the husband. "That is my mistress."

"Well that's the last straw. I have had enough. I want a divorce" says the wife.

"I can understand that" replies her husband, "But just remember if we get a divorce, it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris, no more winters in Barbados, no more summers in Tuscany, no more sports car in the garage and no more yacht club. But the decision is yours."

Just then a colleague of the husband's enters the restaurant with a gorgeous babe on his arm.

"Who is that woman with Matt?" asks the wife.
"That's his mistress" says her husband.
"Ours is prettier" she replies

When I was in college, I worked, also, as a HVAC installer - so I had some money to play. I was attending a private, very-conservative Christian college but lived off-campus. I had a roommate that was,ummm.... hiding would be a good word.... from the police in Idaho because there had been a raid on one of his friend's homes and they had confiscated a lot of marijuana. He worked as a short-order cook, paid his rent on time, and was a model roommate (if you don't mind occasionally smelling a bit like the art-teacher's office). One day he was home baking, and signed for winch I ordered because of one my other adventures where a winch would have been quite handy. At the time, I was dating a girl who was... yeah, you guessed it, a waitress (and I would call her my wench).

So when my roommate told me that my wench and snatch had arrived - I thought what your dirty minds went to, not that my winch and snatch block had arrived. The look of stunned on my face made him quickly clarify what he meant - but to this day, they're always that big wench and snatch on the nose (of my rig).

now you know and mace will probably now move this entire thread to the firepit.... worth it. :flipoff2:

I know this doesn't seem to show much, but actually, it's a big step

it means the pinion is in permanently and I can measure for driveshafts and axles (ordered the axles on Friday, will order the driveshafts on Monday)
so the rear springs from a rubicon are a bit soft, but the front springs seem to be pretty close

you'll note my multi-colored zip ties which hold the shocks in place

so this picture is more for the driveshaft folks, but the driveshaft is 19 1/2" long, it has a 23* angle (max 33*) but the pinion and the output are 8* opposite each other which brings the actually degree difference to a reasonable 16* (for a short wheelbase 4x4, that's doing pretty good).

I'll pull the rear differential out in the next day or two and paint it.... gotta be pretty too

front hp 44.... the fronts are 1310 u-joints... I figure that's the cheap fuse in the system - I may have to scallop the cross member for clearance - if I do, I'll add a mid-hoop just so bad things don't happen if the u-joint breaks

twin stick too

now we're getting somewhere

no picture of the first of the brackets welded in place - but it is and I have to fab a couple inner brackets then paint the weld away

on to the bare metal - spray with phosphoric acid

then rinse

same with the hood

I also got onto removing the cowl vent... I figure I'll get that done, ground down, then cut the dash and dowse it all with epoxy primer... maybe tomorrow after work I'll get the rear differential painted and the hood too. The side panels need to be cut and I'm putting different markers in them so there's a bit of fab before they get primered, the tailgate is going to be a one-piece that hinges at the bottom with a ladder attached to it that will double as a molle panel

You are absolutely flying through this!

I try to get a car a year on the road... if I'm done with this by October, I'll be within my 'schedule'

continuing from yesterday

shock mounts (at least half of them)

and the other half in their rough form

epoxy primered the hood

and the fillers (and had a bit of trouble with it - I shouldn't have etched the metal)

the firewall I didn't etch, I just blew the paint on.... it went on beautifully

live and learn - the etched parts still aren't dry to the touch, the firewall is though it was last painted

and I finished filling the hole in the cowl

now the nickel and dime crap (like window seals and such) for reasonable pricing. I know why they replaced the seals with bulk - what they didn't do, and would have solved the issue of gaps at the joint, was glue the ends together.... but I do think I'm going to trod the same road because bulk is a huge amount cheaper.

Do you need a windshield gasket? If one from a 1970 works I have one for cheap
Might be able to come up with a few hardtop window seals as well

It fit nice when I "removed" it and I assume it's factory from a 1970 fj40

Glass was TEQ stamped and parked in a garage since 91 but glass was cracked so I kicked the window out to save the gasket so I wouldn't crap it up.

Let me know if it works for you. It fits in the $13 flat rate box nicely without bending it up all bad let me know what it worth to you. Here you go.....

I sent you a pm earlier but it failed to send, got some recipient not able
blah .......

If you need hardtop glass or seals let me know as well.

Fine job on your build.. I've been subscribed to your thread for a while now but had very little to add haha...

I appreciate when people go through all the extra work it takes to share photos and knowledge.

Cheers to Ya.

I really appreciate the offer, but I already have less-than-40-year-old seals (they replaced the seals when they repainted - guessing 20 years ago).

I'm probably going to buy this stuff in bulk

two-piece-rubber-weatherstripping.jpg

if you have your windshield installer replace the rubber as well, this is generally the stuff they use.... it's actually pretty cheap (last time I bought it was 10 cents a foot - which was, admittedly, awhile ago) hmmmm... edit, prices have gone up a bit... it's in the dollar a foot range now - and comes in 50 foot rolls.

brackets

brackets installed

sway bar

starting on the clutch

turn the bar around the other way

GM A-bodies have a sway bar attached to the lower control arm that works pretty well - thus, copying what they did is the idea behind this

flexy check for clearances

full compression

weld on clevis attachment points

burn finger.... time for new welding gloves (ouch)
