Anybody have a suggestion on how to transport or ship a large tool box? By large i mean it is 6 feet tall 5.5 feet long . U-haul is an option but would prefer to have it shipped rather than taking changes on of those sketchy u-haul trailers .

I have used a flatbed tow truck about 40 miles from where i bought it to home , but it depends on how far its going .

X2 - much different answers depending on local or semi-local vs. cross country.

I agree. If it's something nice and pricy like a Snap On or Mac maybe hit up a moving company if you are going long distance. They take care of pricy antique furniture cross country.

1,000 to 1,200 miles

We use Echo Global Logistics to ship our roof racks all over the country and they do a GREAT job for us. The boxes for our racks can be up to 5 feet wide, 7 feet long and weigh up to 75 pounds or so. Larger wouldn't be a problem.....

Call Josh at 312.604.5519 and tell him Greg @ DiamondRax recommended you. He can give you a quote over the phone if you provide him with the dimensions and weight of the box you're shipping.

It will be cheaper if you can ship it to and from a business/commercial address.....

Are you accompanying the box or travelling separately? I have a 7000 series Snap-on that I've moved 4 or 5 times and have had good luck towing it beside my bike on a motorcycle trailer. That being said I only have a lower, that might be an option but it would be more comforting to take the top box off.

I will give those guys a call . If i end up moving it myself how should i secure it to the trailer ? It's not enclosed and it does have a top to it so i know that will need to come off .

I strapped mine to the trailer using a few 2"+ straps. To protect it one trip I built a box after strapped down and all the subsequent moves I wrapped with pallet wrap and cardboard layers. The cardboard was more to disguise it as a large box/crate than anything else. The saran wrap type stuff works well and when covered well keeps the weather out.
