Trying to save a few bucks buying a used but super clean fender off a fellow mudder but the shipping quote I got from dhl is 290 bucks and I cant imagine that ups or fedx are going to be much cheaper. Any other ideas? Who has used a frieght company to do this? Any cheaper? The only other option is the $400 from my local toyota for the outer and $200 something for the inner fender. Unless anyone within 200 mi of cincy has found a dealer with Cdan style pricing that is :D

-Thanks

Chase

try ups
i ship my sliders from work
100lbs $50. max ground

got any buddy's that work for a car dealer ;)

I went thru the same thing, looked at all the aftermarket 60 fenders, and the freight/quality involved. In the end, it was better for me to buy thru local toyota dealer at 25 per cent discount, with free freight.

are you sure that quote is accurate? i just had 4 33" tires shipped via DHL (NC to MD) and the shipping was only $130 total. that was for 200+ pounds of tires. i'm sure the fender is bulky, but it's relatively light and certainly shouldn't be $300. have you called to get a 2nd quote from DHL - just to verify? they're certainly cheaper than fedex and UPS right now.

I just shipped an FJ-60 fender and a door on a pallet from cali to Tennessee for $350 through forward air last week. In early January I shipped 2 large rear quarter panels and a rear sill from Cali to Milwaukee on a pallet through Forward Air for $200. I guess the price of fuel is a large factor now because the second pallet I shipped was 100 lbs lighter than the first, yet is costed much more. I am about to ship 3 A440Fs to Indiana through Forward Air. Can't wait for that bill.

Where is the other fender coming from? Maybe a fellow traveling Cruiserhead can deliver it. I move parts from IN to the east coast and back for folks all the time...

Nick

Forward Air doesn't pick up or deliver, so be prepared to go to the nearest large airport.

What about Amtrack??? I have shipped stuff on pallets with them in the past...H55F tranny from, LA to Seattle for like 75 bucks....might be worth a check...

greyhound also. But when I was looking to ship a roofrack and ARB bumper from PA to me DHL was the cheapest. And they would deliver to my door. (Large items do need to be dropped off at a main location though.

I like this option best cause the shipping $$ would stay in the family and fund another cruiserhead's projects.... So who's driving down from CT anytime soon ???? :D I guess Ill call around instead of the auto calculators online and look at the amtrak pallat since we have an amtrak hub.

I will be passing through CT next week. PM me with details as to who has the fender and where they live. I'd be happy to pick it up in CT and drop it at your door in Cincinnati.

Nick

Nick,

Between the other parts and now possibly the fender you are saving my ass on getting my poor 62 back to beautiful. Many    for you my friend. Ill pm you with the details and see what can be worked out with Josh....

I just ran a sample shipment using Delaware to Arizona, 75#, 36"x24"x20", UPS Ground = $66.00 not insured.

I've had real good luck using Greyhound. Of course, you have to pick it up at the station, but they have been the cheapest for me in the past.

DHL was less than 1/2 of what both UPS and FedX wanted to ship a FJ60 door and also a complete ground effects kit here in the last few months. Plus both packages arrived within a week with no damage.

I second using Greyhound. I just used them to ship three doors and it was $400 cheaper than UPS. Don't rely on the online quotes though, it the package is oversized, then it costs quite a bit more. Worth checking out though.
