Shift Knob Upgrade...Thread Size Question

I was recently looking at a Craigslist ad for a used 200 and I came upon a cool mod that I wanted to do myself.

He put a 4spd knob from an FJ40 in his newer 200 series...but used a thread adapter.

I'm having trouble nailing down the exact size adapter I need. I have something that can gauge the size, but don't have access to it right now, so I'm hoping someone else can tell me.

From what I could find, the FJ40 knob has a thread size of 12x1.25 but I don't know the thread size of the 200 series shifter.

Essentially, the 40 knob thread is too large and needs to be reduced.

I think you're right...I saw some T4R shifters in the <100 mods thread and it looks like the T4R is M8x1.25

I don't remember the thread size, but you can drive over to ACE, unscrew your ugly one and walk inside and try a couple bolts to get the correct size. that's what I did years ago when I did this to my 08. this is the same knob from the 08 on my 16. I may even have the old one from my 16 here if your local stop by and you can borrow/have it....

I have ordered 8x1.25 and 10x1.25 and will report back when they arrive end of week. Apparently these adapter parts can't be found, at least not local to me.

Yep. Same size as the Tundra. Picked this up for mine. The stock one was beginning to peel. I like it a lot and it matches my truck. They have several different colors.
