Finally got the PIG running:bounce: . Put about 100 miles on her last weekend and went through about 10 gallons -- plugs are burning good now. Went through a period of "unmotivated behavior." Kept breaking bolts.

Changes:

Non-USA Asian Carb
Mated Used exhaust Manifold (pre-75) to Used Intake Manifold (72)
New intake exhaust manifold gasket
Machined manifold unit
Installed Step Down head bolts for manifold
Exhaust manifold a little warped but so far no leaks
New radiator hoses - have leak in the thermostat casing to fix with new gaskets-I'm sure the bolts will break-they all seem to break off on me no matter how careful I am or how long I soak with penetrating oil (that is what slows me down)

Thanks to Pighead for sending me "stuff." I've got a cable linkage on it now but will convert to rods in future - need to sort out bracket for this carb. Could not make the "rally" this summer due to coaching baseball (March-August). Will install the air cleaner hopefully this weekend - Still need to get you some beers.

See pics -- also got my front signals fixed - installed new posts.

Congrats man, I know that unmotivated behavior well she is my arch nemesis. Now that I am motivated I have to wait on stuff to get here though.

when unmotivated just look and post in the
Need Help, thread. that Eng looks nice.
stay strong brother it is worth it in the end

It is FUN.... got to get my teenage boys involved somehow.

Clemson, haven't seen your rig since you painted her last year.... now she is running good. That's great.

Will keep motivated -- got to keep logging on!

I get mine new pig next week. It is awesome to see someone getting there rig running. -- My 40 is getting close.

Congrats on the work so far, best of luck with the rest of the project.

Buckethead
Cool what year 55? I also have a 72 FJ40 -- another thing that has kept me busy -- got to find somebody to rebuld my vacuum booster for my brakes. Two rigs make less money available for each.

Post some pics when you get her.

Will do,
It is a 71 with an incredible body. The PO put in a disc front, 4sp trans and rebuilt the trans case. It runs like a watch, I am going to use it as a DD. I am getting excited, It should be ready at the paint shop by mid week.

My 40 is a 1970 model. IT ran great, but I decided to tear it down to the frame and start over. I have a thread on it https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=115823

The pics dont show that I am actually pretty close -- but they do show all the crap I have had to do.

The FJ40 looks nice --- especially no rust across the back. Put up some pics when you want -- always good to see progress... today, I have a set back --- broke the thermostat housing. Will put up a pic --- frustrated.

Dude,
Didn't I send you that stuff a year ago? Didn't I pack up and box that air cleaner, linkage and jets and stuff and take it to the UPS store A YEAR AGO? ******* right you still need to get me some beers. I can see bustin some bolts and not working on your Pig, but you don't just ignore a beerdebt for Pigparts for a year. You know what the compounded interest is on a gross of beerounces? I do recall, back in April of this year, as I lay here, recovering from a gunshot wound, unable to shift a 4-speed, unable to fetch my own beers that I requested repayment, in this very forum, on your very own thread, of that beerdebt...

I didn't hear anything from you then. Now I'm supposed to be all happy and s*** that you got it running? Sorry, can't think of anything nice to say.

Man -- you sound MAD. I got BLASTED. Publicly humiliated and Well deserved. By the way, it was only 10 months... not a year. Lots of s*** happens in a year and busted off bolts SUCK.... especially in the head!

Believe it or not I had a friend of mine lined up to drop a couple of cases off on his way through to LA but he decided to fly. That was September. But, you STILL have no beers!

Anybody passing through Washington State so that I can get PIGHEAD his well deserved beers? I mean well deserved. He went the extra mile(s).

Seriously, I probably logged in twice since my recent postings --- I have not forgotten about the beers. I tried shipping UPS one day this spring but they rejected me after I told them what was in the box. My mistake was telling them. I had to drink them instead (you don't want old beer). I tried having stores ship to you but they could not do it either. Something about it being against the law --- I backed off since they don't have beer in jail. So, tell me the name of a store down there and type of beer I will have them deliver you a couple of cases of what you like --- of course it won't be quality Washington microbrew.

Also, I have done work on the PIG! Notice that the rods and linkages are cleaned up-- they would be on but the linkage bracket that bolts to the carb does not fit around the port of the vacuum line on the carb. Haven't figured out if I have to move the port on the carb to make it work. Also, the accelerator pedal rod linkage is on the left versus the right so that it won't line up-----so, I went with the cable for now.

And -- the PIG RUNS. And it was good ---

Prime rate on a case of beer is about 31 US gallons and a 4-pack of Samiclaus per annum.

Now you must face the fate of cruiser karma at its worst. Within 2 months, your valve cover, engine side cover, and timing cover gaskets will leak all over. Also, every weld nut will end up with a broken, rusted bolt in it.

When a dirtbike hit my 55, I gained the ability to foreshadow cruise karma, now back to that doob I didn't finish

"Doesn't look like rain, I'm gonna pull the Pig around to the garage and play with water pumps or something. Come on over, we can badmouth that nogood 75Pig guy some more. And you can look over my partspiles again."

WOW -- you guys are tough! Worked all weekend to get a box ready to go instead of working on my PIG. Left a message (phone) to see if you still live at the same address -- Will send you a PM too.

Guess I'm going to have to get "Earl" to help me with my Karma --- The bolts are already welded...

the "No Good 75Pig Guy" who is trying to make this right!
