My 1970 fj40 has been my pride and joy for 2 years now. With that said, it has become the chore of all chores since I decided to do a frame off rebuild. Don't get me wrong, I do not have some cherry cruiser worthy of a museum, but I wanted to try to right the many wrongs that the prior owner had done to my cruiser that I now call the bucket.

All I can figure is that the prior owner had gotten a new welder for Christmas sometime in the past and they decided to weld the top to the tub. -- A plasma cutter and a little time later, I have rebuilt the mounting surface for the top. I also decided to take a fj55 that was rusted through and pull the running gear. So now my 70 fj40 has The 2f, 4 spd and discs from the 55. I am in the middle of this project now, and I am hoping to be rolling by Christmas. So if you have any suggestions or if you are in the Alabama area, send me a message and come by, I will have the beers on ice and an extra wrench just in case you want to help.

Good luck my friend and god speed. Finished a frame off on a 72 2 years ago and was up against a lot of what you are looking at. Advice - take your time, don't get frustrated. And if that is your wife or girlfriend in the picture buy her something really nice so she stays off your back about spending way to much time in the garage:)

I should have more pictures up soon. I have finished the metal work on the tub and and going to liner the inside of the tub on saturday.

If anyone has any advice on how I should make it look or whatever, I am always open for comments, -- even if they are :censor: .

Yes - you are missing something. The Jap Mini Truck site worked for me and they are way freak-deaky cool. I need one to stomp in N Georgia clay! And the pics are the usual frightening, "I just took my tub off and sand off the paint off - holy crap," ones but porn no less.

What part of North Ga. I grew up in Cedartown so I know that red clay well. -- Oh, and I can hook you up with a deal on a mini truck, a good friend of mine imports them.

Rome. And no - I can not have one. My wife would dis-own me.

Rome is close, I went to school there for a little while, have a lot of friends in that area. We should wheel sometime, --well, when my ride will function again.

What kind of tires are you running? I like them.
