Set of 235 75 15s tires with 31 10.5 15 as spare?

I am going to get new tires in a week or so--I am going with the OEM 235 75 15s. The spare has never been on the road and looks to be in good shape, but it is a 31 10.5 15. Were I to have a flat, could I run the 31 as a spare for a few days if need be?

I am not sure how different the two sizes are.

Retro's calculator says the P235 is a 29in diam tire. I've never seen anyone running tires that small and can't imagine why you would want to.

31x10.5R15 is what US 91/92's came with. The P235 is listed in the owner's manual as an "extra load tire".

Price figures into it. Back when I started researching, the smaller tires were obviously cheaper. I figured that was because the 235 size seems more common--I did not figure overall tire size into it.

Given the amount I drive the LC, I am on a fairly modest budget. However, I did not realize that there'd be that much of a difference in sizes. I will talk to the mechanic and see what kind of prices he can offer up for the larger tire.
