Is this the correct way the serpintine belt is supposed to go on pullies for a 97 cruiser with a supercharger. I turn the bolt on the tensioner as if i was tighten it to move the tensioner, and it is still a bitch to get belt on tensioner pulley, any advice or help? Freakin supercharger crap! (Thanks for the help c-dan, it is still a beeeatch to get in though!).

Yes...but put the belt on the tensioner pulley first and on the supercharger last. You also need a serpentine belt bar or something of equivalent length (24"). With it's leverage you can rotate the tensioner with one hand and slip the belt on the pulley with the other.

What is a serpintine belt bar? What exactly does it do?

One inch wide steel bar about 24" long with a 3/8" socket stud on it. Attach your socket (most bars come with the 3 or 4 low profile sockets for GM, Ford and import) to it and use the length to easily rotate that tensioner to the right. Sears sells them for about $20, or you can make one by welding a cheapo socket to a piece of 24" strap. I kept mine stowed in the toolkit area with a spare belt...both are worthless anywhere else but in your truck.

el mariachi, you can install the belt without this tool right? I will probably just need another person to help me with either the tensioner or putting the belt on supercharger pulley

I have never tried, but it will be a handful using something short.

You don't need that fancy tool. Just use a decent size pipe wrench--grab the tensioner housing and gently turn it over until the belt is loose. Works very easily.

I use a Craftsman 15mm combination wrench that I heated and bent to go around the pulley. As already observed, that wrench stays in the truck along with the belt.

Now I figured YOU of all guys would have an anodized, Ivan "IronMan" Stewart etched serpentine belt tool, limited edition with serial number in Japanese cherry wood case. :D

Too much beer money for that one.....:D

now I am having a hard time figuring out how the damn belt goes on. as posted before (drawing) is that how it goes or like this one? Either way is seems they would fit, but it is so hard, I will just let good ole pops deal with it! Is this the correct way though, or the drawing before??
