Series 90 to USA?

[90 KZJ 1997]

I'm a long-time FJ80 owner/lover in CO USA (and newbie to this site), but as I discover more about the 3dr turbo-diesel Prado I want one! I read that they cannot be imported into the US, but that does not seem acceptable to me. There HAS to be a way. I'm looking into EPA and other regulations - anyone have any experience what modifications would be needed for these beauties to be registered here?

You are dreaming, there is no way to import one unless it is in parts and somehow you fudge a registration of a 4 Runner or something not 100% legal. I recently exported a 61 series to the U.S. from Canada and it was possible because it was over the 25 year exemption. The importer had to jump through many hoops but managed to get it registeThe biggest problem was it was issued a new VIN when imported from Japan. If you could import one I would be glad to sell you mine, a 1997 KZJ 90 W, with only 50K miles and a 5 speed, but you cant import it Canada allows 15 years or older.
