Or point it at work, jump in the back, shower and make some bacon and eggs.
That would be me back when I was working for others.:hillbilly: I'd have made heavy use of it. I'd have it drive me north to watch Aurora, and I'd nap on the way. Then have it drive me directly to work in the morning, nap, shower, and eat on the way.

This is where it starts:

2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Is A Semiautonomous Luxury Sedan That Can Drive Itself At 130 MPH

"It also has Remote Parking Pilot, giving owners the option to automatically park the car using a smartphone app."

This means you get out at the mall, and when you 'bleep' the remote, the car parks itself and lets you know where it ended up. Then it will pick you up at the door later, when you're ready. It's low-speed autonomous driving with less liability and lower bar to entry.

I don't see the point, why have the expense and hassle of ownership if you can't drive? It makes more sense to me to invest in better mass transit.

I think ownership will become much less common if/when this really happens as well. Instead of owning a car that gets parked 23 hours a day for most people most days, you'll subsrcibe to a car service which will own the cars. Human drivers are just a temporary solution for Uber, Lyft, etc.
