Good morning,
I have some issues with the swing out carrier right now. It's attached to the cabin and it's struggling a bit with the weight, I guess. I start to get little cracks around the mounting points.
I thought of building a new one myself, a reinforced version. With the option to carry 3 jerry cans and it would swing out to both sides (to distribute the weight better).
I would like to bolt it only to the lower crossbeam, not to the cabin itself. To do so, the design would need to be a bit beefy. The idea is, to get the parts laser cut and bended and then weld in additional parts to make it stiff.
1. You guys think, the crossbeam at the car frame is capable to deal with the load? Not so much concerned about the weight itself, more the torque (due to the weight).
2. Which material? Steel in 3/16 or will it need to be 1/4?
Thanks a lot
