Selecting a new remote transponder key

Hi,

I have a Toyota Land Cruiser 2005 Cygnus. This model I believe is almost identical to the LX470, however its a Japanese domestic model.

My SUV came with a proximity remote key (images below). However couple of years ago the proximity key started malfunctioning (while driving it used to suddenly lock, unlock my door locks, arm the alarm etc).

So being the simplest solution, I decided to remove the battery and leave proximity key at home, and simply use the normal key to Open, Lock the door as well as starting the vehicle.

How I suddenly work up from the dead and decided that using the conventional key is a real problem and that I'd like to program a remote key (not proximity but a regular remote transponder key) to this system.

Few questions that I have are

1). will the LX470 duplicate keys on ebay work ?

Something like this.

2). If not how do I go about finding a compatible key for my SUV on ebay ?

I just can't find any numbers to search by, like HYQ1512V.

BTW - Yes the key should not be used to balance your cigarette. thats a cig burn.

You will need to determine which 'chip' is correct for the FOB or Key.

How you go about that....I am uncertain.

I doubt you have a 4C chip. More likely a 4D chip of some type (there are several numbers).

A call to Toyota Customer Service might be in order.
