Hi everybody. I have a 2003 LC. Earlier today, I noticed that my security light was on constantly while I was driving. I pulled out the ever-so-helpful owner's manual, which says to contact the dealer when this happens. I went back out to the garage this evening, and my turn signals are flashing. The vehicles starts up fine, but the second I turn the key to the off position, the turn signals start flashing again. Any thoughts on why this is occurring would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
DP

Wow, I must have really stumped you guys! Here is a little more detail.

On the uneducated assumption that the two issues are related and started with the security system since that happened first, I removed the fuse for the anti-theft system, and that did nothing--hazards kept blinking for no obvious reason. I then removed the fuse for the blinkers/hazards, which stopped the blinking, but the blinking started right up again when I tried a new fuse. So, I have removed the blinkers/hazards fuse for now, and the truck runs great (with the obvious caveat that I can't signal right now), and everything seems to be working normally, even the security system.

So, I think my questions are as follows:

1) Under what circumstances does the security light stay lit, even while driving?

2) What would make hazards/blinkers blink, with the truck totally off, no key in the ignition, and the hazard button off?

3) How would #1 and #2 be related?

Thanks,
DP

This is a good one. I have never heard of it happening. Please update if you have found anything further.

Reviving an old thread here, but my truck was doing this same thing tonight. I went to get her washed then afterwards had the exact same symptoms listed by the OP. Anyone else have any idea about whats going on??

Have you replaced your windshield? Sounds like water may be seeping in. ECU's are located underneath the windshield and water may cause havoc. Might need the windshield resealed.

Yep, PS floor board is soaked. Anyone know of a good glass guy in the Fort Worth area?

reviving this thread: I have the same issue. hazard blinkers front and rear that won't turn off. I've disconnected battery, pulled bulbs, etc. nothing works. where can I find the fuse for the blinkers/hazards?

Check:

1. Sunroof drain, it seems to be the most common.

2. The ac blower motor box cap seal (black underneath the glove box to the left of the ECU).

I have an 05 and just replaced that seal which had gone bad. The seal is like a screen spline in shape and had deteriorated significantly. In fact, I replaced it with a denser rubber screen spline.

If it is that seal and you can get your head under there, you'll most likely see water dripping from the blower housing box nearest side towards the passenger seat. I had my truck and ac running full blast waiting for the condensation to appear.

Prior to that, I flushed the sunroof drain and the ac condensation drain on the firewall but still had the wet floor.

Sorry, I am of no help on the funky lights flashing.

Just had the same exact thing happen to me. And it rained 3" the night before last. Also have crack in windshield along he entire length of the bottom. I'm sure it's it. Did all the fuse/battery stuff as mentioned above with no fix. Must have dried out as its all back to normal operation this morning.

@FWERdoc @WoodyCreature hey guys just had the same thing happen to my '07 after a heavy rain yesterday afternoon. Did having the windshield resealed stop the problem from happening again for you? Anyone find a way to get the flashers to turn off other than pulling the fuse? Thanks in advance for your help.

Just to add a bit more information. Yesterday I found that if I locked the car with the key fob the hazard lights flashed continually but if I locked it using the door lock inside the car they did not. Either way though, the security light remained on. Woke up this morning to find the battery was dead. When getting a jump the car started honking until the cables were disconnected and the hazards began flashing right away and remained flashing. Security light however is off now but in addition to the hazards flashing the RPM gauge no longer functions. I pulled the fuse for the hazards and have an appointment with Toyota to get it looked at but hoping to find more insight as to the cause of the problem.

Any update on this? It happened to me today. Rained last night

I have a 2007 LX470 and this just happened to me. The floorboards are dry. My sunroof drains are clear. I had my windshield pressure tested for leaks, and it’s not leaking. Any ideas?

add me to the club. Testing all these fixes right now. Probably going to pull the windshield. I know the last install was bad because it was missing the rivets.

So, it's just shy of midnight and my truck started doing this, thanks to the collective wisdom I was able to pull the fuse and it stopped but it was clearly and electrical gremlin. I've got two decent chips in the windshield so it's a good time to get it pulled and a new one placed and make sure the seal is good. I will clean out the roof drain at the same time but that seems to be lower on the list. Any other things people have come up with since this was last commented on?
