Hi everyone, this is my first post on here so please bear with me. My 1998 Landcruiser 105 series 4.5 litre petrol has a strang issue going on.
It has a crank no start, but it will start every now and then. I have checked every thing I can think off, I have noticed that the flashing security light works now and then mainly in the mornings. All I know is that when the security light is flashing I will insert the key and start the cruiser everytime, I will turn the cruiser off, pull out the key to see if the security light will flash or not. Sometimes after running the cruiser I turn it off then pull out the key I noticed there is no security light flashing then I know it won’t start again….. I did notice this morning the security light was flashing so I knew I would be able to starter the cruiser so I left it alone and just took notice if the light was going to stay flashing or turn it self off. Well…. Without doing anything but just kept checking that the security light was still flashing without the key in the ignition, I checked to see after about the fifth time in a space of 30 minutes the security light stopped flashing for no reason that I can think of…. If there is anyone on here that could steer me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate the help.

there is a common problem with the fuse box / EFI relay on early 100's that creates a crank /no start situation. you may want to pull your EFI relay and check the contacts underneath

Hey… thanks for that… I have checked all that, I have started the cruiser this morning…. I knew it was going to start because the security light was flashing. So far it has started 6 times in a row and every time I turned the cruiser off and pulled out the key the light started flashing so I know that the cruiser will start again…. I have just cleaned the key blade extensively and the inside of the barrel to see if that is a problem.

Hey excessive.. thanks for guiding me in the right direction. I went back and pulled apart the fuse box , pulled the plug underneath the 20 amp fuse and noticed that the plug connectors where a little to open so I adjusted them plugged it back in and noticed that my security light stays on every time I pull my key out of the ignition…. My landcruiser starts every time now…. Thank you once again for your words of wisdom.
