I've been rolling around in my LC for almost 2 years now. I love everything about the LC. I can haul customers to a business meeting, I can pack the kids in the back to go to the beach and I can haul lumbers and toys around for my projects. It's like having 2 or 3 vehicles in one.

But... came from a loaded Audi A8, which probably had the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. On the other hand, the seats in this LC, suck. The sitting position is too high and the seat doesn't get low enough in the cabin. I put a 6'3" customer in the front seat and his knees are in his face. It's bad.

Has anybody figured out any tricks to improve the seat positioning? Even being able to get the seats 2 or 3 inches lower would be a big improvement. It looks like the seats in the LX are the same as the LC, so would I gain anything by flipping to Lexus seats??

Thanks,
Z

Agreed. I'm 6'4" and can't get the seat low enough. Thirsty for ideas too...

likewise I am unimpressed with the seats on long trips and at only 6'1" struggle to get a comfortable position..... I've swapped out the seats in my 80's and the JKU for Sparco's and Recaros.... might end up trying to fit in a set of one of those - sadly the Sparco Milano in tan is un-obtanium currently....

Humm, I'm 6'6", And I love the seats, need to sit that high to see the rocks.

But outside of seat replacement, you could go to a reupholster shop and have a softer cushion placed. That would give a more supple feel, and feel like you are sitting a bit lower.

6'5 here and no problem here like to sit high.

I find that eye level is the headliner or top of windshield at best. Do y'all lean back gangster style?

No, sit up right, not even have the seat fully backed.

Yea same here, sit up right. My brother's new Tacoma is like all other Toyotas, you basically sit on the floor. So I like the seat from a fuctional standpoint, nothing sucks more than trying to navigate a trail from a low seat position.

From an engineering standpoint. Look at a LC200 and a 4Runner/ Tacoma. The 4R and taco hang the transmission, transfer case, and exhaust low to make more space for the interior. The LC200 tucks those component dang near completely within the frame rails to protect from off-roading. So as a result, the seats have to be higher from the get go. That's why I would play with the seat cushioning to get a couple inches lower with out noticing that you are sinking in the seat.

I have no issue fitting, and I'm 6'5". My dad is super jealous of the car as his dream was my FJ60 (in fairness he bought it in 1985, so he had a good run with it) and now is a 200 series. He is 6'10" and fits decently in the Cruiser, but he has a bad back and he too finds the seats uncomfortable. Anyone know if the seats in the Lexus GX460 or LX570 are softer then the LC?

I can't seem to wrap my head around somebody 6'10 fitting in these front seats. Is he touching the headliner?

I'm only 6'1 [short compared to you guys] -- Maybe it's a relative comparison thing... Sit in a LC and then sit in a X5M...

Good points w/r/t visibility for wheeling, that does make sense.

The engineers in Japan are probably going to flip if they read this thread. "You want us to design this vehicle for Godzilla sized customers??" :cautious:

Ha! He isn't little, that's for sure. But perhaps his saving grace is that a lot of his height is in his legs, so he stays under the headliner, couple that with his comfort choice to recline waaaaaay back and you get a "good fit".

I hear ya on the X5- I have an SQ5, and while it is a little car compared to the LC I have boatloads of extra space compared to the Cruiser. But since I fit in the Cruiser comfortably, it makes no difference to me, in fact I'd say it is as comfortable, or even a touch more comfortable to me over the SQ5. But that's just me.

Oddly enough when the FJ60 was my Dads Daily Driver (before the bad back) the seat hinge imploded, so he just flipped the rear seat down to hold up the back of the front seat and that too was a good fit. He then decided to tack welded the seat in that position so he could still use the back seat; which of course made it all but undrivable to everyone but him, that is until I put new seats in it. I fear a solution like that if he decides to buy a newer 200, so this thread could end up saving a 200 from undue mutilation, no pressure.

No. They are not. They are slightly more adjustable but nowhere near as comfortable as my Range Rover seats were. I own an LC and an LX.

LX seat adjustments.

LC has same adjustments...but the whole-seat-forward/back button is combined with the seat-back tip-back/tip-forward button. Seems odd that they separated those functions into an additional button. Perhaps in order to perceive additional adjustment over the LC that isn't really additional? Or is it combined with the thigh support/seat raise button? Can't remember...but the same adjustments are available.

No. LX allows you to adjust the lower seat to grip your rear end in addition to lumbar support for your back. It's an additional adjustment not found on LC.

LC seat v LX.

Ah. I see now that the middle switch does two functions.

So it narrows/widens the raised sides of the seat?

Sorta firms up the seat, primarily on the outside it seems. I'll test it later. Too cold right now!

Compared to my 2000 Tacoma seats, I feel like I am in Heaven. No complaints here...

I like our 460 seats better than the 200 seats. For me it's the way the 460 wraps around your lats/sides. Or whatever the wings of the seat are called.... feels more supportive whereas the seat cushions are equal.
