Since my passenger side seat climate control (heat/ventilation) wasn't working, I decided to swap the switch with driver side and check if the switch itself is problematic. After opening the panel I realized the passenger side switch is different than the drivers side and the harness is not compatible between the two. (note the difference in color! Drivers side is grey and passenger's is black).

Is this normal or the previous owner changed one of them?

I should also mention it is a 2010 LX.

totally normal

So I guess there is no easy way to tell if the problem is the switch or the seat ECU!

Have you already checked the fuses associated with seat heating/vent?

Already did. Fuses are fine. I also checked all the harnesses under the seat. They're all plugged in and "look" fine. One thing I noticed is the following code my Bluetooth reader shows:

Code B1478 - Communication malfunction (Seat A/C ECU)

It seems the system recognizes the switch operation (hence the code above), but the little LED on the switch does not light up.

Hi @LXCruza. Resurrecting an old thread here...

I'm having the same issue.

Wondering if you got yours fixed, and if so -- how?

Thx!

Still not fixed :frown:. I asked my dealer to check the issue and they said the seat heater switch is broken. I bought a new switch from ebay and swapped it myself; did not fix it!
Next to check is seat climate control ECU (under the passenger seat). but I gave up on it since it is kinda pricey and is not worth the price/hassle for me.

I see. Thx.

Given the name of the error (which references the ECU), I’m inclined to think that’s what it may be too. Strangely, my second row seat heaters also do not work (driver seat is the only one that does work). Do you happen to have a part # for the ECU?

if I make any progress, I’ll be sure to let you know.

I'm almost certain this is the item: Toyota Genuine 8586160011 Computer Seat Climate Control 85861-60011 for sale online | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/p/663352853?iid=332610625069. I would double check though.
Part Number: 8586160011

Wow, almost $500!

Guess my wife and kids will have to deal with cold butts in the winter :)
