Dangling switch? Fix for a broken Cruise Control Switch...

I constantly use the cruise control. Taking the daughter to school the other day, I noticed the pull back on the cc switch had a lot more give in it than normal. After a couple minutes of fiddling with it while driving, it completely snapped off and was left dangling. Luckily, the replacement is pretty straight forward and an aftermarket is cheap! A replacement off Amazon was $10. OEM is roughly $140! I really couldn't tell a difference between the two. Total process takes about 15 minutes.

Replacement procedure.

1. Disconnect battery. The steering wheel front cover needs to be removed and I didn't want an accidental airbag deployment.
2. Remove 2 plastic covers on both sides of the steering wheel. This will expose the 2 torx screws that keep the front part of the steering wheel on.
3. Pull the front steering wheel cover off and move aside to expose the 2 screws that hold the cruise control switch.
4. Remove the 2 screws holding the cruise control switch, disconnect the plug, then reassemble in reverse with the new switch in hand.

Great write-up! Very helpful. I just replaced the cruise control switch on my 2013 LC200. I went with the OEM part. It would have been a 15 minute job if I had figured out sooner that the old switch comes out the front of the steering wheel and not the side
