I need some more info and pics about how to mod the steering shaft for the scout p/s conversion. I have read and read but I cant find any good pics of this part. I was going to get a borgeson joint for the box and use the u-joint on the column and try to use the stock slip but I am having a hard time putting it all together. I want to have all the parts ready to do over a weekend with little down time.
Thanks

On mine, I ended up splicing the original scout shaft in with the original one from my '77. I'm thinking if you want to do it this weekend and don't already have a borgeson joint, you're going to have a tough time getting one...

Combine the hub that fits over the stub of the Scout box and the lower ujoint assembly of your stock intermediate shaft (line 'em up and weld 'em together). Then lengthen your stock intermediate shaft. Cleanest, simplest, best fit, highest quality.

Not planning it this weekend, I still have to finish the bracket for my alt/york (alt lives where the p/s pump needs to be) and the new pump bracket. I am trying to get this done in late January.

Hey mark, do you have any pics? I dont want to weld to any joints with needle bearings. I dont want to screw them up.

You don't weld to the joints!

The sleve that fits over the shaft of the box is basically butt welded to the sleeve the fits over the shaft of the Toyota box. The sleeve (Toyota) is what the steering ujoint connects to.

I'll see if I can get a pic of one.

Thanks Hamma. I went back and read Marks post and I think I understand. So I need a splined hub to fit on the scout stub. That gets welded to the lower stock U-joint. Then I just lengthen the other shaft. So just what Mark said:D. The picture really makes it come together.

When I was talking welding to joints, I was thinking the borgeson joints and didn't want to F them up.

Thanks
