Here is one in my state (though clear on the other side), so I'm trying to scope it out good:

96 Toyota 4Runner 4X4 5Spd

I've talked to the owner, he flat out told me he's having hard time keeping his job and has purchased this car as an investment, since he got a real good deal on it in Utah. He said he's trying to sell the car to help out his family situation - I can understand that.

I'm waiting for high res pics to get a closer look but it sounds like a really clean truck.

I've checked the KBB and the best I can come up with is $5,100 but the truck has the right color, cloth interior, manual trans PLUS the Diff lock and low miles to boot make me think it's a good deal and I could probably offer him $6,000-6,200.

I've been having a hard time finding the right combination of color, options and value here in town so driving 4 hrs to get it may not be too bad - what do you think?!

Too much to pay for that truck? Too little - no comments at all?

I see 5 speed ones in Colo on occasion, but that has low miles and looks very clean. I agree that he's pushing the price pretty hard. But, I know it's hard to find the color, year, miles, etc. that you like. Paying $500 too much wouldn't be the crime of the century. Most have far more miles. I'd pay $5500 without fear.

I payed a little more then that for a Limited 97 and I love it. Mine is automatic, 4x4 with the diff lock. If I had to do it again I would.

If you want to pay that price, you should push hard for a maintenance history that can prove the truck has been cared for and properly maintained (if not, it could be a negotiation point). If its exactly what you want, then you'll pay what you can for it.
