I've been using Scepter MFC's for years now, with both Viton and Nitrile (BunaN) gaskets. Sceptres change to grey Viton material has made identifying them easier, but many of the older scepter Viton gaskets are black. Some with a small notch, and some with a yellow paint mark on the rim, but often just black. And of course many aftermarket Viton gaskets are black, just like nitrile. The easiest way to tell them apart is to weigh them on one of those cheap little digital scales. Viton weighs about 1.5 times that of nitrile for the same volume. I weighed a number of both types, and the Viton gaskets averaged 18.8gm, while the nitrile (BunaN) averaged 12.2gm. Minor size and material differences made the weight range plus or minus about a gram, but it was an extremely simple, quick, and non-damaging test.
Just thought I'd share.
