Best US state to register a diesel LC in? (1 Viewer)

About 10 years ago I put a medium duty 3.9L Isuzu diesel in my 1993 80 series. At the time I was active duty military and my state of residence was Oregon. Oregon was kind enough to change my registration to "diesel" and I had several assignments back to Colorado after the conversion and kept Oregon plates on it since I was still an Oregon resident and still on active duty. Now that I've retired and now call Colorado home and claim Colorado as my state of residence, the county I live in will not let me register the LC due to the mis-match of a medium duty engine being placed in a light duty vehicle. Had I put a 5.9L cummins in it instead, I'd be fine because that engine was fitted to light duty pickups at one time. What is the most registration friendly state that I can get my vehicle registered in while still living/working in Colorado.

That's ridiculous that you're encountering such trouble with registration. There's a pinned thread in the 80 series forum for rigs with varying diesels-you can probably find some people in there with 4BTs to ask!
