I've needed to log data rarely in the past but I'm getting more call for this lately. I'd like to capture 20-30 minutes of engine parameters while driving and review later. I'm sorting an intermittent engine stall now and think it would help if I could just capture the event. Has anyone used this method and can recommend a brand/model of scan tool. Thanks, S.

Torque pro can selectively log via the ELM BT connection (assuming android). Maybe that's good enough without spending big bucks on a professional obd2 tool.

cheers,
george.

Depends on what model year vehicle you have. Cheap ODB2 modules and android apps are available for 95 and up as George has pointed out. For 93-94 ODB1 there is device built by a hobbiest in the $80 range with a free android app. Search for Toyocom or ZF Scantools on this forum. That device may also work partially with 91-92 models.

Strictly ob2 and ios, still researching. Thanks for the solid insights.

I use DashCmd on my iPad mini and a WiFi adapter. Looks like it has logging but never tried.
