Looking to do a day trip to the Oriflamme trail starting out of Julian and heading down to the Anza Borrego. Lets meet at 0900 at Dudley's bakery in Santa Isabel. Leave by 0930 and figure to be off trail about 1400 (2pm) to 1500 (3pm). Below will be the meet up spot. Bring your lunch and lets have a good time on the trail!! Hope to everyone on Saturday.

My GX sliders won’t be done being fanned until mid Feb, so similar question if stock GX470 will be suitable? Brand Newbian, not even a full on member yet but if my “in progress rig” will make it, I’d like to go.

I do not know how the trail is as I have never been on it. The wife recently watched a video of a guy who drove the trail on the 1oth of December and he had a stock looking Tundra. I know that @flyingmonkey had posted he was doing the same run on Sunday so we can report back if there is a need for sliders.

Trailhead is located just east of Julian. It’s a VERY easy (Priusable) trail/fire road. Oriflamme Canyon then intersects Rodriguez Spur Truck Trail. Just before the intersection there's a campground covered by trees I usually stop at and have lunch, let the kids run around, etc. I usually hang a left on Rodiguez and follow that back until it intersects Oriflamme again. Rodriguez Spur is also rated easy with a few bypasses that vary from mild to difficult. Nothing major, scenery is kinda cool once you start descending on Oriflamme, Oriflamme intersects with the Pacific Crest Trail (which I WILL hike someday). Good place to explore if you want to discover local stuff and to get a little dust on your rig.

I can't make Saturday, got some RSO Training going on at South Bay Rod and Gun Club.

Think it depends what trail(s) you take whether it's a loop or not. The one listed in the link above is not a loop, and it includes "Mason Truck trail". 11.2 miles, starts in Banner and ends on S-2.

Oroflame: It's been a while (but I was just up its neighboring canyon, Rodriguez a couple days ago), but used to spend a lot of time out there. I built a dry laid stone wall with rock I collected out there. IMO, it's a beautiful area with great sights. Driving it should not pose too much of a challenge. Erosion I'm not aware of could have changed things of course.

BTW, there is one spot about half way with a spring; you'll see water and a little stone wall. There is one path that used to be right through a little bog and an alternate around it. Easy to see the mud. But the reason I bring this up is that I came upon a nice, new yellow Rubicon Jeep that got swallowed up to it's windows and on a bad angle in there. Recovering the Jeep at that point was very challenging and took two days! So maybe go around that spot. lol

Based of info and feedback from flying monkey looks like I’ll be on my virgin run...1st ever, be gentle. Dont want to gum it up for anyone so gas and lunch. Radio is on the way, checking skid plates and more to follow.

Wish I could make this but too much going on, post pics!

There's a chance my training on Saturday may be cancelled due to rain. If so, I'm in for this one. If it rains is this still going to happen? No reason why not, but it may be a little muddy. The parts of the trails that I am somewhat familiar with will still be doable. I'm up for it if others are.

This will be my 1st run...ever. I’m looking forward to it.

So down to still do it. The weather report says rain tonight til about 6 am. SO still on if it's raining.

See everyone in the morning!

I dunno if you guys will come back through Julian, but with the exception of my daughter's basketball game at 1:00 I'd like to see you. I'm right in town above the Post Office. 1835 2nd street. Also, a good friend of mine is the brewer over at Julian Beer Company (which is a Pizza Port). AKA: JBC
