Just read through this - I don't spend enough time off road to consider this but props for pushing the envelope!

The 100 has a far superior ride over the 80 by far due to the IFS but my goal is to run 37's and make a capable crawler. Nothing for King of the Hammer but something to hit the local trails and Moab.

Im curious how much weight will come off when i chop the 100 body from front doors back and shorten the frame from coil bucket crossmember back.

i just did this to my 80 and lost 800lbs - added flatbed.

im on Rockjocks mindset as i think the 100s have gotten to be cheap enough that jumping to the 100 vs v8 swapping the 80 to the tune of $15k starts to make sense if a cheaper SAS could be done.

The 100 rear end will likely live a long life with 800lbs less and SAS solution on the cheap is on my radar. Worst case scenario- blow up rear and throw in a tundra 10.5 rear axle which would nicely match a 9.5" front.

Short term - im looking to chop a 100 and do the rear tundra 10.5 for a killer 4500lb tow vehicle. i have to imagine the 1uz or 2uz really would get up and go with 800lbs less weight.

:popcorn:This will be good!
